Comments Accessing Developer Console The very first step in Binding in any Valve title is to enable the developer console. To do this, first you must open the options menu.
Once there click on "Advanced" and then make sure that "Enable Developer Console" is checked.
Now that Console is enabled press the Grave Accent Key ( ` ) on your keyboard which is to the left of 1; doing so will open the all mighty console.
Binding Voice Commands Now the binding begins. To bind basically anything you must type [bind key "command"] into console, replacing key with the key on your keyboard that you want to use for your command, and replacing the word command with the command you want to use for your key.Now for the purpose of this guide we will be binding voice and/or chat commands. To do this we will need the formula for voice commands, we'll get to chat commands later.Below is an in game view of the manual voice commands.

Contrary to the manual listing of 1-8 with 0 being cancel, the console views this menu from 0-7. This means that "Medic" which is used with Voice Menu 1 then pressing 1 console will view this as voicemenu 0 then using command 0.As I have just explained console views the "MEDIC!" voice command as "voicemenu 0 0" which will be used as an example. Now hopefully you understand all that because we're finally going to start binding.A Voice Command Code Table is provided at the bottom of the page.To bind a voice command type [bind key "voicemenu # #"] into console and replace "key" with a key on your keyboard, then replace the first # with the first digit of the voice command code, then replace the second # with the second digit of the voice command code.Example: bind e "voicemenu 0 0"CommandCodeMEDIC!voicemenu 0 0Thanks!voicemenu 0 1Go! Go! Go!voicemenu 0 2Move Up!voicemenu 0 3Go Leftvoicemenu 0 4Go Rightvoicemenu 0 5Yesvoicemenu 0 6Novoicemenu 0 7Incomingvoicemenu 1 0Spy!voicemenu 1 1Sentry Ahead!voicemenu 1 2Teleporter Herevoicemenu 1 3PootisDispencer Herevoicemenu 1 4Sentry Herevoicemenu 1 5Activate Charge!voicemenu 1 6Medic: Ubercharge Readyvoicemenu 1 7Help!voicemenu 2 0Battle Cryvoicemenu 2 1Cheersvoicemenu 2 2Jeersvoicemenu 2 3Postivevoicemenu 2 4Negativevoicemenu 2 5Nice Shotvoicemenu 2 6Good Jobvoicemenu 2 7As a Closing Note, some commands make the player use special animations.Commands like MEDIC! Will make the player cup his left hand for the call, Commands like Thanks! Will make the player give a Thumbs Up, Commands like Move Up! Will make the player point in the direction he is facing, and Commands like Battle Cry will make the player fist pump. Binding Chat Statements To bind a chat statement type [bind key "say statement"] into console while replacing "key" with the key you want to use then replace statement with what you want to say.Example: bind p "say Red Bread is Delicious!"Use say_team instead of say if you only want your team to see it. Keypad Counter-Strike Vets are going to be all over this. Now you can bind your commands and such using the basic keys on your key board such as the alphabet, but there is a very convenient and useful alternative. On the right side of your keyboard is the almighty keypad, a four by five key structure that is easily available to the right hand and is most famous for its use as a "Quick Buy" in the Counter-Strike Series. However it can be used in Team Fortress 2 although it's not as major as a component.Below is a Table showing the console code for the keypad entrees excluding Num Lock. Any of these keys can be used as the "key" in a binded command.Keypad EntryConsole CodeSlash / kp_slashMultiply * kp_multiplyMinus - kp_minusPlus + kp_plusEnter kp_enterHome 7 kp_homeUp Arrow 8 kp_uparrowPage Up 9 kp_pgupLeft Arrow 4 kp_leftarrow5 kp_5Right Arrow 6 kp_rightarrowEnd 1 kp_endDown Arrow 2 kp_downarrowPage Down 3 kp_pgdnIns 0kp_insDel . kp_del Closing Statement Thank you for viewing my guide. I hope that it has been comprehensive and helpful to you. 82 Comments < >
