How was Chara's name found out anyway? When you name the fallen human, aren't they referenced by the name you give them for the entire game? Or when do the monsters call them by their real name? When you fail to name the fallen human, your save file will default to Chara (as in, character) It’s essentially a sort of dev joke, the sprites for Chara are names Chara, and obviously knowing people would look at the games files it was put in, and put in as “the true name” according to the name Easter egg for it. I’m assuming it started from a misunderstanding in early development when Toby named the sprites for the main character as main-Chara or Chara-something, causing someone to think the true name of the character you play as is “Chara”.
Essentially “Chara” has no real name as it’s supposed to be your name, and your gender, for the purpose of the game being able to handle the dialogue and being unable to know and account for the gender of the name you entered, it will always say “they”. Frisk however is canon neutral as they are still called “they/them” even after we find that we are not playing as ourselves after all.

Trying to teach haters on Tumblr basic science.

I don’t trust this construction company I saw around the block. This is like the boss fight with Sans in vehicular form.
soren-rave asked:
Are monster souls upside down or is it just a perspective thing. I can imagine from the monster's perspective your own soul must look upside down.I believe it’s a stylistic choice by Toby to represent the monster souls as upside down white hearts. He could have just had them be white hearts to distinguish them from colored hearts being human souls, but instead they are upside down. It should also be noted that in the fight with Mettaton Ex, his heart core is upright, and your soul in yellow mode flips upside down for that space invaders style shooting arcade style. A human soul and monster soul look so different, until you realize it’s a matter of perspective and their soul is more like yours than you thought. I’m reaching here, but it possibly could be a take on the whole “our enemies aren’t as different from us when viewed from a different perspective, we look different and "upside down” from their perspective" trope. I wrote a lot about this in one of my previous posts on monster souls and human souls.
Ah Tumblr developers. Instead of fixing errors and giving you information on how to avoid or solve the error, they made it so you can tap on the error message and drag it around with physics and violently swing it around and fling it off screen. Very helpful. How about fixing the app before focusing on the flair?
Thanks to a lot of hard research, I have determined what the Gaster blaster weapons are based on. They look like a canid skull, and after a lot of research I found the orbital size, rostrum length, Sagittal crest, fangs, sharp elongated jaw muscle anchors, nasal canal, and teeth, and skull width and length and broad jaw bones, all closely match a large domestic dog, grey wolf, or African hunting Dog, shown in the last two pictures. This disproves that it was based on a fox skull, or a skull of a Pomeranian like Toby’s dog form. The thin parts of the jaw, shortness of snout, blunt rounded jaw muscle anchors, and width to length ratio mean it is likely not a grey wolf, the African hunting dog has a skull that fits the most criteria.
Considering the Gaster Blasters are shown as being longer than Sans body, and with their width, I would say size is not to scale or its a matter of perspective, as even the largest canid known, the long extinct Epicyon haydeni had a skull around 34 cm long and had a skull the size of a male lion, still not big enough if you consider Sans over 5 feet tall.
Also, no canid has a skull that splits in half and jaws that separate in the middle and rotate outwards. That uh… That makes this a bit more pointless.
Still, I wish I knew what reference Toby used for the graphic, most likely it was a dog skull of wolf skull and he just depicted it in a style that happened to look like an actual skull of another species.
Another thing worth pointing out, a lot of people draw the Gaster Blasters like a weapon, or a mask for sans, but it’s important to note the larger Gaster blaster image without eyes or nasal canal is called “spr_g-b_npc.png, an unused filed. For those that don’t know how the game works, lots of characters have black face templates and the graphics of the eyes and other features are added on top separately and animated separately, like Muffet’s eyes. This means at one point, the Gaster blaster was an NPC, a thing with more facial expressions and likely planned dialogue. It’s not a weapon, it’s an actual monster. It might not be a blaster weapon named after Gaster who invented it, it could be some form or piece or entity owned by Gaster that Sans obtained. The Gaster follower with a piece of Gaster claims he isn’t afraid because he has a piece of Gaster with him, as if the pieces of Gaster give powers.
Also worth noting: the left eye is the only one that appears when it is using its power. Just. Like. Sans.

I finally found something I missed in Undertale. The detail hidden in this door in Hotland.

Now theres two designs this could be based off of, the more notable one being the Gaster Blaster.

Especially with how the red locked door symbol seems to have the jaw split apart in the middle. This also makes sense with Gaster’s true lab in the Hotlands. The other possibilities is that the design is based off of Loox, a sort of default monster made early in development that you face in the ruins.
GASTER BLASTERS IRL
THESE ARE FREAKIN TURTLE SKULLS

JUST LOOK AT THEM

IF YOU DON’T SEE THE FRICKIN RESEMBLANCE HOW CAN YOU NOT???

Do you changed your mind about Chara or you still consider them as a psyco, manipulative, one dimensional evil kid without any redemption arc ,the responsable of the genocide run ,the only super mega psyco evil character in the whole game while the game says that even the person that you think is the worst can be a very good guy and that everyone can be redemn and deep have good intentions?I’ve posted about this so much in the Chara tag, so check that out, but what it boils down to is this, up until the point that Chara’s soul, absorbed by Asriel, is destroyed, they are redeemable. As a human, they were not without good traits and love, given the family photo of them all smiling together, the present for Asgore, the wanting to save all the monsters, the love of chocolate bars showing they actually enjoyed and gained pleasure from something, they were just a human child, a misguided, slightly twisted human child that did some horrible things and abused and used their adoptive family and tried to use their brother in a plan to become a powerful entity and wiping out humanity, starting with their village, but they were not completely bad or without their reasoning.
Then there’s the Chara we see. The soulless manifestation of the players LOVE, this thing sharing the body of Frisk that seems to have all the mannerisms, memory, ideas, and appearance of Chara, but lacks a soul. The “Real” Chara died of self inflicted buttercup poisoning so Asriel could take their human soul and cross the barrier fused, and destroy the humans. When the fusion was killed, when Asriel’s body was mortally wounded and his soul weakened, both their souls, Asriel’s and Chara’s, were destroyed somehow. The soul isn’t in the human soul collection, and the only red soul we see is that of Frisk. Chara from that point on is a soulless bodiless irredeemable manifestation of hatred and lust for power and destruction, reviewed by our LOVE. Notice how when you are good and don’t go the genocide route, you never actually see Chara or get the red text from their spirit. Souls are made from love and such, Chara doesn’t have that.

Do you think something like Star Trek's reality could be someday achieved?I mean, it already has. A lot of the stuff originally presented in Star Trek has been made reality already, as in any major SciFi, some of the stuff they predicted comes true, some of it is inspired by the Sci-fi. http://mentalfloss.com/article/31876/12-star-trek-gadgets-now-exist
As for actually being able to bend space and time and going faster than the speed of light, such a breakthrough would require rewriting much of the basic laws of matter and energy and the universe.
Things like cellphones and everything they are also capable of are analogous to some of the hand held devices on Star Trek, as we see in Undertale, cell phones can be very useful with some extra functions. Not sure if Toby Fox is a Trekkie, but some of the pop culture references to StarTrek are so common it’s almost impossible to grow up without knowing them, like “KHHHHAAAANNNNNNN!” And “make it so” and “damn it ______ I’m a doctor not a _____!” And “beam me up Scotty!”
