HVAC system not working correctly :o( Jump to Latest 3rd Timer 3 We recently came back from a long weekend on the Eastern half of the state... put 500 miles on the SUV. We drove back from Moses Lake on Sunday and we could not get sufficient heat to warm us and our two dogs coming over the pass or at any other time. When I backed into our garage to off load after our trip home on Sunday I noticed tons of steam coming from our radiator. It was 54 degrees out and raining. My wife says she smells antifreeze when parking the SUV at times. I saw no leaks and the antifreeze tank fluid level has not moved since we bought the SUV. I noticed when I went for coffee first thing this morning the center vents blew out 107 degree heat. Majority of the time the temp will NOT hold. It's either too hot or too cold in this vehicle all the time. And I'm about ready to rip the Cruise Control out and send it to GM... it still hunts between 5th and 6th on the highway --- I find it VERY unsafe! I have contacted my dealer and shared with them my concerns. I did a search in here and found nothing regarding the HVAC issue. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the fix? Thanks! 41 - 53 of 53 Posts 1 2 3 J

Needless to say, CJ2 is the automatic tri-zone system. G

dmurphy said: If anyone can find a copy of TSB# 08-01-39-009, it would be most appreciated .... I have to say - I've been quite disappointed in the heater performance when using remote start. My wife likes to remote-start the Acadia on cold days, and after letting it run for 5-6 minutes, it's still ice cold inside. Click to expand...
#08-01-39-009: HVAC Automatic Climate Control Defaults to Full Cold or Full Hot Despite Controls Being Set to Other Parameters, DTCs B0423, B0228, B3779, B0413, B3782, B0433 (Reprogram HVAC Control Module) - (Sep 16, 2008) Subject: HVAC Automatic Climate Control Defaults to Full Cold or Full Hot Despite Controls Being Set to Other Parameters, DTCs B0423, B0228, B3779, B0413, B3782, B0433 (Reprogram HVAC Control Module) Models: 2008 Buick Enclave 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade Models 2007-2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe 2007-2008 GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon Models 2008 HUMMER H2 Models 2007-2008 Saturn OUTLOOK with Automatic Climate Control System (RPO CJ2) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition Some customers may comment that the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) automatic climate control system defaults to full hot and/or full cold, despite the HVAC controls being set to other parameters. This condition may not exist during the next ignition cycle and the system may operate normally. Technicians may find that Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) B0423, B0228, B3779, B0413, B3782, B0433 have or have not been set. Cause This condition may be caused by a software anomaly. Correction Do This - Reprogram the HVAC control module. Don't Do This - Do not replace the HVAC control module and/or HVAC actuators. Important: If the vehicle is a 2007-2008 GMC Acadia or Saturn OUTLOOK with an additional customer concern of an inaccurate ambient temperature display, then it may be necessary to reprogram the HVAC control module and relocate the ambient air temperature sensor. Refer to bulletin 08-01-39-008 - HVAC Ambient Temperature Sensor Display In Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Inaccurate Or Too High for more information. A revised calibration has been developed to address these conditions. Technicians are to reprogram the HVAC control module using SPS with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the HVAC Control Module Programming and Setup procedure in SI for more information. As always make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version. Also, clear all DTCs and make sure that B0423, B0228, B3779, B0413, B3782 or B0433 are not current. If DTCs B0423, B0228, B3779, B0413, B3782 or B0433 are set as current, follow normal diagnostic procedures in SI. Warranty Information For vehicles repaired under warranty, use: Labor Operation Description Labor Time D4707 HVAC Control Head Module or Assembly Reprogramming with SPS Use Published Labor Operation Time D

It will NOT shut off or mute no matter what I touch or do. So I get home and shut the GMC off... go back to where the key powers up all the consumers (German term when I worked at the dealer) and it 's all good to go. Hmmm, just one more thing I have to keep my eye on. **** it. Ugh! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: D

I'm in Morris County - Denville area. Know Mahwah very well - I used to work in Orangeburg, not far from there at all. I think the key is expectation - my wife likes the car toasty warm. For me, it's just something to take the chill off. I think it takes the chill out of the air, but there's no way I'd say it's warm in the vehicle ... M
