This Genshin Impact guide contains information on how to defeat the boss, Hydro Hypostasis located in Inazuma. The Hydro Hypostasis is the Hydro version of the hypostases that exists throughout the overworld. In addition, this guide will also provide several tips and tricks that will help you take down the Hydro Hypostasis, as well as the rewards on offer.

The Hydro Hypostasis is hiding underneath an island in Inazuma. It's a fresh take on Hypostasis due to the variations in its movement and the fluidity of its attacks. While still operating with the same concept of Hypostasis, it has definitely introduced new moves that you need to keep an eye on.

Hydro Hypostasis Location

Hydro Hypostasis is located in Suigetsu Pool, Watatsumi Island. It's hidden underneath the island so you need to look for this crevice to access it.

How to Defeat Hydro Hypostasis

The Hydro Hypostasis has introduced us to new attack patterns to keep an eye on, but do not be intimidated as these are very similar to the other world bosses who can either be tanked by shields or dodged. Similar to other hypostases, the Hydro Hypostasis is immune to its own element so bring characters that can deal Pyro, Cryo, or Electro damage.

Phase One

The moment you enter a fight with the Hydro Hypostasis, it will coat itself with a bubble and explode, producing 2 slime-like droplets. One of which is a bright droplet that shoots out health towards the hypostasis to heal it and the other one is a darker blue droplet that runs up to you and explodes. Killing the bright droplet will require you to deal electro/pyro/cryo damage to deplete its shield. Once the shield is depleted, it dies.

The other move to be wary of is the Wave where the Hydro Hypostasis produces a wave-like projectile from the outside parts of the battlefield and then rolls towards the hypostasis. Getting caught in the middle of this can easily result in death if you're not prepared for it.

Another move to note is the one that produces a lot of dolphins while it exposes its core by spreading the boxes that guard it around in a circular formation. You can move in and deal damage to it but make sure to avoid the dolphins as they can really eat your HP without you noticing.

The other moves are standard moves that you should avoid by either shielding or dodging. Repeat this sequence until its HP is low enough to enter phase two.

Phase Two

Hydro Hypostasis' phase two starts with it producing 3 droplets that slowly move towards it. Your job here is to kill all of the three droplets before they reach it as this will heal the hypostasis greatly. Use elemental reactions to whittle down their shield. Once the shield is gone, they disappear.

If you fail to kill all droplets, the next time Hydro Hypostasis enters phase two, it'll only spawn the droplets you failed to kill. If you kill all the droplets, the fight will end!

Hydro Hypostasis Rewards

Here are the potential rewards from defeating the Hydro Hypostasis:

  • Varunada Lazulite Ascension Crystal (depending on world level can range from fragments to gemstones)
  • Dew of Repudiation
  • Traveling Doctor Artifacts
  • Instructor Artifacts
  • The Exile Artifacts
