More details have emerged regarding Jeff Hardy’s contract status following his shock release by WWE.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that Jeff would have been aware that a refusal to go to rehab would have been met with “action” by WWE.

The report goes on to say that, just like any other released star, Jeff will be unable to compete for 90-days following his release, meaning he will be free to wrestle again at the start of March 2022.

The report reads:

“According to WWE sources, Hardy was asked to go to rehab after the incident at the show, and then refused. They said that Hardy was fully aware that if he did refuse, that WWE would have to take action.

“The decision was made to let him go rather than suspend him, and he was given a similar 90 day non-compete period where he will be paid through March 9, when he would become a free agent.”

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has reported Jeff was behaving in an “erratic” way in the days before his release, and that he had missed several bookings.

It is unclear whether or not Jeff plans to return to the ring once his non-compete clause expires.
