Jeff Hardy's Release Includes A 90-Day Non-Compete Clause [Report]

According to an updated report on the terms of release for former WWE Superstar Jeff Hardy, it appears the veteran is locked into a non-compete clause that doesn't expire until March of 2022. That means, should Hardy want to go elsewhere, he'll need to wait 90 days to do so.

This isn't abnormal for WWE stars released from WWE. Perhaps the big difference here is that is believed WWE and Hardy came to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract and with that, perhaps it might have changed the non-compete status of his deal. That is not the case. According to an update by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hardy was fully aware that if he refused the rehab offered to him by WWE after his incident at last Saturday’s WWE live event in Edinburg, TX, there was a chance he'd be either suspended or released. His release comes with an agreement that he'll be paid until March 9th, 2022.

Once the March 9th date comes, Hardy will become a free agent and free and clear to go wherever he would like. Many people assume that will be AEW, but there hasn't been any word on whether or not Tony Khan would be interested or need to take a closer look at Jeff's situation before offering any kind of deal. That Hardy refused to accept treatment might be a red flag for promoters.

Hardy Has Yet To Comment On WWE Release

Post that you ‘heard’ that. Thanks." Matt Hardy posted comments saying, "My brother, Jeff Hardy, has the best heart & soul of any human being I have ever met."

Where Jeff Hardy goes next is not the most important thing. What is important is that he gets the help he needs with whatever issue is affecting his ability to work and live his life as he'd like.
