Jersey Shore: All The Episodes Where Sam And Ron Broke Up

The early 2010s were a time dominated by Katy Perry, crackle nail polish, fake tans, and the birth of the emoji. This colorful decade also saw the rise of many popular MTV reality shows that highlighted the most interesting of American fringe communities, among them the Guidos and Guidettes of New Jersey.

The ultra-popular Jersey Shore chronicled the lives of nine friends as they navigated love, work, and endless partying on the picturesque shores of Seaside Heights. Fans of the series will remember the show’s enduring storyline following the bizarre on-again-off-again relationship between Samantha “Sammi Sweetheart” and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro. This list compiles all of the episodes featuring a breakup or a rekindling from the couple. It’s a wild ride, but that’s life at the shore.

10 Season 1 - Episodes 2 and 3

During the first season of Jersey Shore, things heated up quickly with a whirl-wind romance between Sammi and Mike “The Situation”. The romance was halted before it had a chance to get off its feet however when Sammi started to develop feelings for Ronnie.

Episode 2 kicks off with the three tanned lovers deep in the midst of a guido style love triangle that became the cause of a rivalry on the shore marking the beginning of Sammi and Ronnie’s tumultuous love affair. It didn't take long for things to take a turn for the worst when Sammi was caught giving her phone number to other guys in episode 3.

9 Season 1 - Episode 6

Episode 6 kicks off with a wild night at a New Jersey night club where Mike meets several girls who he later invites back to the gang’s home.

Not to be outdone by Mike’s performance at the club, Ronnie gets into a physical fight at the nightclub which leads to Sammi questioning the status of her and Ronnie’s relationship. Sammi's reconsideration eventually leads to the pair's first breakup.

8 Season 2 - Episodes 1 and 2

Season 2 opens on newly single versions of Sammi and Ronnie who at this point had not spoken to each other since the reunion at the end of Season 1. Sammi confesses to fellow housemates that she still has feelings for Ronnie and secretly hopes to restart their romance. Sammi is then left alone and heartbroken at the group’s seaside home while Ronnie opts to go out to the club.

Episode 2 sees a love-stricken Sammi desperately prying for information into Ronnie’s escapades the night before, but the rest of the cast members remain tight-lipped.

7 Season 2 - Episodes 4 and 5

Season 2 episodes 4 and 5 chronicle what hardcore “Shore” fans will remember as the infamous anonymous letter debacle. Episode 4 sees JWoww and Snookie pen an anonymous letter exposing all of Ronnie’s bad behavior at the club. The pair leave the letter where Sammi is sure to find it and chaos ensures in Episode 5.

Sammi finds JWoww and Snookie’s letter and breaks things off with Ronnie after finding out the truth behind his actions. The pair eventually get back together when Sammi takes Ronnie’s side in the household feud much to the horror of the other two girls. The would-be anonymous letter leads to a season-long battle between Sammi and JWoww.

6 Season 3 - Episode 5

Season 3 marks the climax and most volatile point in Ronnie and Sammi’s relationship. After an all-out blowout at the club, Ronnie becomes physically violent when he destroys Sammi’s property, all before screaming at Sammi to leave the house. Feeling sorry for himself, Ronnie forms a friendship with JWoww who runs to Ronnie’s rescue.

Sammi catches the newfound friends sharing a platonic embrace which causes Sammi to think the gang is picking sides and has chosen to leave her on her own. This misunderstanding comes to a head with Sammi causing a physical altercation of her own when she punches Ronnie in the face. Sammi had initially planned to leave the shore after the series of fights but decides to stay after apologizing to Ronnie.

5 Season 3 - Episodes 6

Even though Episode 6 opens with Sammi and Ronnie back together, their relationship once again starts to fall apart when Sammi begins spending more time with the other ladies of the house. Another argument ensues leading to another breakup for the toxic couple.

Sammi and Ronnie’s fighting continues into Episode 7 which will be further detailed in the next part of this listicle. The girls decide to take Sammi out on the town to forget about her relationship woes. Finding out about the outing, Ronnie falls into a fit of wrath which he unleashes by dragging Sammi’s property out onto the porch.

4 Season 3 - Episode 7

The rampage ends with Ronnie flipping a bed that Sammi is still standing on. Not missing a beat, Sammi immediately leaves the house, making a beeline to the club with the intention of making Ronnie jealous.

Unable to control his emotions, Ronnie responds to this jealousy by heading home to destroy Sammi’s more of Sammi’s belongings. After returning home to find the damaged property, a heartbroken and bewildered Sammi calls a cab and leaves the shore.

3 Season 3 Episodes 11 and 13

After Sammi’s abrupt return to the shore, Sammi and Ronnie once again renew their feels for each other after sharing a make-out session. The interaction leaves Sammi feeling confused about her love life and the couple resolve to work on their relationship, although Sammi does not feel ready to get back together.

In episode 13, it is revealed that Sammi has been cheating on Ronnie with Arvin, a friend of Mike’s. Ronnie confronts Sammi on the matter, leading Sammi to confess to hooking up with Arvin years ago but does not confess to kissing or texting him. Later in the episode, the gang head out to the club where Ronnie and Sammi get into another fight, much to the chagrin of the rest of the cast. The pair openly question whether their lethal relationship will ever get off the ground again and the season ends with Ronnie admitting he regrets ever getting involved with Sammi.

2 Season 4 - Episodes 2, 4, and 5

Sammi and Ronnie’s relationship is at a clear end in Season 4, but that doesn’t stop the couple from giving things one last try.

The couple tries to talk things out in the season’s second episode and are back together by episode 4, leading Mike to involve himself in the drama. Episode 5 sees the infamous pair breaking up for the last time during the season.

1 Season 6 - Episode 13

Season 5 Episode 13 marks the final chapter in the saga that was Sammi and Ronnie’s relationship. Back together once again, the ill-fated couple tells their parents that they plan on moving in together.

Later on in the episode, the pair endure their final fight after a catastrophic prank on the boys leads to Sammi and Ronnie’s inflatable bed getting popped. Ronnie blames Sammi for the prank and the pair question the status of their relationship. They later decide to break up for what would be the last time in the series' run.
