On average, the doughnuts are about 250 to 300 calories per doughnut.

A statement on the company’s website says Krispy Kreme is trying to reduce the amount of calories in its products.

It says: “We are working towards the Public Health England targets of calorie reduction where possible.

“We are focused on reducing calories where we can and none of our doughnuts are over 400kcal with 44 percent of our range under 325kcal.

“We intend to work towards 60 percent by 2022 and 70 percent by 2025 being under 325kcals.”
