I think very differently about this song. I think it’s about the loss of a very dear person. Personally, this song and it’s lyrics mean a lot to me, because I listen it in thoughts of my baby, which I‘ve lost because of a miscarriage.

My baby is gone, I was never able to hold her, but I think that I‘m always surrounded by her, although I don’t believe in god. So I’m jealous of the rain and the wind, because I think her presence is everywhere. And the rain and wind is closer to her, than my hands ever were, because I was never able to hold my baby. No matter how hard I wish for, I can never be near her.

I wished her the best of all this world could give, but it wasn’t enough to save her. I needed to set her free, let her go, but I always thought, maybe one day, she will come back or we will be together again.

I think she is happy, wherever she is, and I’m jealous that I can’t be with her. I’m jealous that she is happy without me, that I needed to stay back. All I got, was the memory, the heartbreak. I needed to watch her slip away, and a part of me died with her.

One of my favorite things about this song is that it was actually written by a little-known, but very successful Nashville songwriter named Natalie Hemby. Amazing how a great song transcends genres.

A really beautiful and deep meaningful song. The song that represents the heart of whoever had experienced a broken relationship with the love of his/her life. We hope to be as close as the wind, the water that touches the body of a person we love, we hope to spend the nights with them everyday, we hope that someday he/she will return and admit that life has been difficult for him/her to live without us. But when reality kicks in, we realize they have been happy with their lives, living us to this deep jealousy of knowing that the love of our lives is able to be happy without us. it is my hope too but being honest, i want him to be happy with me and me only :(

Labrinth is describing how he missing his ex, how he's Jealous of how he can't be her number one anymore. He describes how he's waiting for the days to come where she comes back, missing him, which we later find out, never happens. He says how he's dying day by day without her.
