Ladd inherited the huge Drummond estate in Oklahoma from his forefathers. Currently, he is the co-owner of the 'Drummond Ranch' that is spread over 433 thousand square acres. Ladd raises approximately 25 hundred heads of cattle and horses on this vast piece of land. He, his father, and his brother, Tim, are the partners of 'Drummond Land and Cattle Company.' His cousin, Thatcher Drummond, is an associate.

The Drummond family is the 17th-largest landowner in the US. Ladd and his family are actively involved in the 'Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association.' In late 2016, the Drummond family opened 'The Mercantile,' a restaurant and retail store. The store is in a 100-year-old downtown Pawhuska building that the Drummonds bought and renovated in 2012.

Despite all these achievements, Ladd’s ranching techniques have often been criticized by some of his fellow ranchers.

Married LifeLadd is married to Anne Marie Smith. Better known as Ree Drummond, Ladd’s wife is a blogger, photographer, bestselling author, and cook show host. Her blog, 'The Pioneer Woman,' details the Drummond family’s life at the ranch. The couple has four children: Alex, Paige, Bryce, and Todd. Ladd and Ree have decided to homeschool their sons. Their daughters, however, are university students, with Alex attending 'Texas A&M University' and Paige attending the 'University of Arkansas.'Ladd and Ree got married on September 21, 1996, and honeymooned in Australia.
