How to Locate Biomes
Explore the World of Minecraft

The best way to find biomes in Minecraft is to encounter them as you are exploring the world. As you explore, you will find areas with different land features, blocks, trees, and mobs.
Use Commands in Java Edition

Instead of naturally encountering each biome, you can also immediately find a biome with commands. However, this command is only available in Java Edition.
In 1.18 and previous versions, you can type "/locatebiome" into the command line and type in the id of the biome you want to visit. In 1.19 the command has been changed to "/locate biome" with a space in between the two words.
Typing in any of the commands will reveal the coordinates of the nearest biome you want to find.
Biome Differences in Minecraft
Weather

The most important distinction among the many biomes in Minecraft is the weather of the region. Some biomes like deserts and badlands do not experience rain, while other like tundras and frozen biomes only experience snow.
Mobs

Different types of mobs will spawn in different biomes. This is true even for biomes in other dimensions since some nether mobs only spawn in certain nether biomes.
Blocks

Different blocks can also only be found in certain biomes, some of these blocks are incredibly useful resources or building materials, so traveling to rarer biomes to obtain these materials is sometimes necessary to complete certain builds.
Structures

Some structures only generate inside certain biomes. Witch Huts only generate in Swamps, Ancient Cities only generate in the Deep Dark, and so on. To find and conquer different structures in the game, you'll need to go out and explore the biomes where they generate.
Grass and Water Color

The two other noticable differences you can spot among biomes is the color of their grass and water. This change is especially noticeable at the border of two biomes, where you often see a visible shift in color.
