Is there a way to make water flow in a continuous stream over a long distance, without making it go down hills? Normally the stream dwindles the further it gets from the source block, and I can't figure a way around this. I'm building a mob trap that utilizes canals to ferry them to their doom, and this has turned into an irritating roadblock. Any help is appreciated. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

The only way that i know of to make a stream with out going down/up blocks is using half blocks then placing your water stream of 8 blocks. I'm not for sure how useful this would be in your scenario but you could experiment. :_: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :Water: :_: :Water: :Water: :Water: ..... :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: :grass: Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

Huh, that's a good idea, and it seems like it would work. I'll give it a go. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

Let us know what comes of it and if you come up with a good method from it. Building up a level every time makes certain kinds of mob traps a lot more tedious to build. To transfer mobs this could work, but if you wanted a long constant stream with no gaps you could increase by half blocks instead of a full block. you could get by with making half as many levels I would think? Yeah, I'll post my findings after I test it out. It's a pretty large mob trap. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

The only way I found to extend the flow of the water was to start the flow on top of a step, then gradually place steps on the same level underneath the water flow. This will only work if you've built a canal for the water, of course. Sadly, this only extends the flow another block or two. After that, the only way to continue is to dig down a block and place a new source, which will eventually dwindle as well. For a mob trap, it will work, just not as well as I'd like. The best thing to do would be to rework the trap from the ground up, I just would've rather avoided it. Ah well. MCEdit if it gets too irritating to do manually. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

this has bee solved already, however i agree that with mob traps, that DONT go downward, using signs / halfblocks (im partial to signs, as it does not increase the height of the canal.) to seperate them is a good thing to do. but I still prefer the step up after 8 to create a gaurentee situation that if they fall in, they cant get out, and have no chance to stop movement. btw, big mob traps are great, finally got mine to pump out continually, @ 3650 items /hr Rollback Post to Revision RollBack I like making walls of Text. Have you tried stacking the source water directly beside one another? Even though it is rather buggy as of late. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack
