· Registered Joined Oct 20, 2010 · 27 Posts well i tried and it connected to obd2 but just kept saying detecting ecu, then lost connection then connected then lost connection, looked under logs and nothing there as it wasnt connected probablydrdino
· Registered Joined Jun 19, 2012 · 915 Posts It might take a few tries to connect the first time, give it some time. If that fails, try Torque from the normal app store. Aandipoke266
· Registered Joined Oct 20, 2010 · 27 Posts ok finally using torque lite i got it to connect and code P0488 egr throttle position control range/performance, whatever that means Rreliable406
· Registered Joined Oct 19, 2012 · 15,369 Posts Thats ALL you have that does not say ecu fault That means the ecu is not liking the signals from your EGR system this does NOT mean you need an EGR valve it means the circuit is not doing as it should what engine was it again Aandipoke266
· Registered Joined Oct 20, 2010 · 27 Posts well that was all that torque lite found, fap lite couldnt connect to ecu at all,it was the garages that said it was ecu fault with their machines, its a 2010 2.0hdi 150bhp DW10CTED4 ,cheers Rreliable406
· Registered Joined Oct 19, 2012 · 15,369 Posts Euro 6 engine then if there was an internal ecu fault ANY code reader would see it so chances are there is not i recon whats more likely is they tried to clear the EGR issue and could not so assumed ecu is faulty and told you that because they dont want to spend any time on it ! Clear the code if it will clear drive it then do another read Aandipoke266
· Registered Joined Oct 20, 2010 · 27 Posts i cleared code but still had eml on and depollution sytem faulty on hud, still ran lumpy and as if mixture was wrong and code came back again ,,,cheers Rreliable406
· Registered Joined Oct 19, 2012 · 15,369 Posts Ok its probably a permanent fault then so given what you have found so far my next course of action would probably be checking live data for readings of airflow and fuel then removing the egr valve to check its not gummed up with carbon which may be beyond your comfort zone its not an easy one to removeandipoke266
· Registered Joined Oct 20, 2010 · 27 Posts i had a pug 206 sw 2.0hdi before this and that had an egr issue,a mechanic cleaned it with a spray,is that a possible solution for me or is it a mechanic job,,,cheers Rreliable406
· Registered Joined Oct 19, 2012 · 15,369 Posts No newer EGR system is much more complex the 206 one was very simple although it can be cleaned it needs removed first to see if its worth cleaning Aandipoke266
· Registered Joined Oct 20, 2010 · 27 Posts so im back lol,my error codes are now P0233,P11ab,P0488 and U3fff,now ive just done a wynns proffesional egr3 cleaner and given fuel a shot of wynns diesel cleaner extreme, nodifference but whilst i was at front of car i noticed that the big air pipe on left was flat,as if it was sucking but getting nothing, also made me realise that i dont think my turbos been working which explains the slow speed build up,so any ideasreliable406
· Registered Joined Oct 19, 2012 · 15,369 Posts If your pipework is sucking in then there is something stopping the airflow and this is probably the REAL fault could be the pipe has delaminated internally as they are double layer but its more likely a dozer flap is closed or some other physical restriction somewhere Aandipoke266
· Registered Joined Oct 20, 2010 · 27 Posts well ive just been running it at 2-3000 revs and its shot loads of black smoke out, still got all the errors and the pipe on left is still squished when engine running,im now at a loss what to do next, ive looked at pipework and think its out of my league,so anyone know if its a hard job or easier for a garage to do,i read somewhere that one of the codes could be a sensor above the pipes,cheersnoddy-hol
· Super Moderator Joined Jul 26, 2013 · 4,946 Posts It sound like its being 'starved'of air...hence the black smoke and fault codes...that pipe needs to stay 'round'....as said before...something is restricting the breathing of the intake.....ie...choking it.... Aandipoke266
