- Respec your character by talking to Rennala if you plan on playing with a different build from the beginning of NG+
- Enemy health is increased. This means that enemies can take longer to kill.
- Enemy defense is increased. This means that enemies take less damage from attacks.
- Enemy resistance is increased. This means that status build ups like Rot and Bleed are reduced.
- Enemy attack rate is increased. This means that enemies deal more damage with attacks.
- Enemy poise damage taken is increased. This means that enemies have higher poise and take more to break poise/stagger/etc.
- Enemy stamina damage is increased. This means that hits absorbed by blocking or block-like effects sap more stamina.
- Enemy stagger resistance is increased. This means that enemies take more to stagger.
- Runes received from Enemies and Bosses increase:
- The increase for NG+ depends on the enemies and bosses and varies between a 5x increase for earlier enemies and bosses to a 2x increase for later enemies and bosses.
- The factor seems to depend on the area (5x in Limgrave, 3x in Liurnia of the Lakes, Mt. Gelmir, Altus Plateau, Leyndell, Royal Capital, 2x in Dragonbarrow, Mountaintops of the Giants, Leyndell, Capital of Ash, ...) with some exceptions
- Further Journeys increase the number of runes received based on NG+, or Journey 2, as illustrated in the table below.
Journey Multiplier 3 (NG+2) x1.100 4 (NG+3) x1.125 5 (NG+4) x1.200 6 (NG+5) x1.225 7 (NG+6) x1.250 8 (NG+7) x1.275
- Radagon in single-player at NG+7: ((13,339 × 1.001) × 1) × 1.4 = 18,694.6754 HP
- Radagon with two players at NG+5: ((13,339 × 1.001) × 1.6) × 1.3 = 27,772.86512 HP
- Movement slowdown caused from certain area hazards (such as lava and swamps) is removed upon entering NG+.
- It's not known if this is intended behavior or not, but it has remained unpatched.
- Collecting all Armaments
- Challenge Runs
- Obtaining all Trophies & Achievements
- Experiment with new Builds
- Prepare for future DLC
Anonymous09 Sep 2025 03:38 aqual scaling is bullshit while late game bosses scaling should stays same, early game bosses should be scale much better like at ng +1 malanie get % 10 bonus but godrick get %120-200 bonus.Game would be more fun. at ng early game litterally meaningless everthing get one shot ,so in ng % 80 of game actually is time wastage

Anonymous31 Aug 2025 03:13 Should be player's choice whether to make these already stupidly hard games even harder in NG+ cycles. And before the so-called "Souls-vets" materialize into existence in a way that makes me question the nature of reality and whether Fromsoft Invaders are actually a normal part of it, and proceed execute me Julius Caesar-style with torches and pitchforks for daring to suggest that Fromsoft innovate in some area (or switch up their beloved torture routine in any way really), I'd simply like to point out, just as one example, that jumping wasn't a thing either. From -does- change stuff in between games (this isn't always a step forward of course, rolling back all the advances of Dark Souls 2 back into nonexistence when making Dark Souls 3 was criminal, if telling about Miyazaki's self-obsession).

I'll let Melina Burn, I won't make Varré quest, my dragon eyes won't be overwritten this time! Mylenia... Mommylenia, Melania, Milena, Menardi... Anonymous15 Apr 2025 11:03 I worked too hard like Kid Bengala to conquer all my 200 levels, rare equipments and consumables for just beginning another playthrough from the very beginning. I am decided to do NG+ but I don't like the idea of being over powered at first 70% of the game. I think I'm good for Montaintops of the giants and Miquella's Haligtree but very strong for earlier places even at NG+. I think me with 40 VGR and +25 uchigatana would make Margit weaker than a runebear. I am thinking of using Daedicar's Woe to cut my HP in half indirectly, going from 1450 to 725. I can even use some scorpion talisman and Marika's/Radagon's Scar/Sore talismans to weaken my char. I'll have to get other unapgraded weapons to play fairly. But from Montaintops, Consacrated Snow Fields, Farum Azula and Elphael, I think I will have to do my best again in terms of building. At late game, the dificulty is insane, even more at NG+ obviously. Godfrey, Maliketh, Placidusax and Malenia, I promise I will kill you all without summons this time.

Anonymous25 Mar 2025 01:27 The worst part of NG+ is the open world enemies. In base NG, once your build is fully realized, it’s a lot of fun to go around challenging groups of enemies rather than a single boss, but in NG+7, every enemy does a fourth of your health in one attack, and they stunlock you to death, and there’s just no reason to ever fight enemies. It takes so much away from the open world.

Anonymous17 Feb 2025 11:56 I’m currently on NG+4 and DLC+ and the enemy defense/attack power scaling feels absolutely ****ed in the lategame areas. I have +70 Vigor and wear pretty hefty armor but I’m still finding myself getting 2-shot (sometimes even 1-shot) by relatively basic enemies. This isn’t worth the slightly increased Rune drops, in my opinion!

Anonymous20 Nov 2024 16:13 Here’s some advice from an old crazy person that ran through the game 21 times: If you’re finding yourself taking huge chunks of damage, a shield will SAVE you. HARD. Not taking full damage is always better than taking full damage or risking a tricky dodge. Plus, if you have a greatshield, guard counters are an extremely viable option. Be like the underrated Lance mains of monster hunter. They may not do the most damage, but they’re not dead, and barely got scratched. You don’t even need a greatshield, a medium shield works wonders against anything that isn’t a massive gun. Even a small shield can block. You can block with your bare hands. If you use a colossal weapon, you can block with that too, and it’s actually sometimes on par with upper class greatshields!

Anonymous16 Oct 2024 12:57 For those curious, based on my own playthroughs this is how the rune value of a single frog at the Palace Approach rune farm changes:NG: 2044NG1: 4088 (100% increase)NG2: 4497 (10% increase)NG3: 4599 (2.3% increase)NG4: 4906 (6.7% increase)NG5: 5008 (2.1% increase)NG6: 5110 (2% increase)Haven't gotten to NG7, will update the post if I do...If your goal is to complete enough NGs to optimize rune farming at Palace Approach so you can level your build quickly, I recommend NG4. Going beyond that has quickly diminishing returns, and you'll probably level up faster rune farming at NG4 than spending the equivalent time getting to NG5 or NG6 (where you'll only get marginally better returns).Note, these values don't include using the Golden Scarab or the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. I only wanted to see how each NG cycle increased the rune value, regardless of buffs used.

Anonymous23 Sep 2024 18:20 There’s actually a super convenient way to check what NG cycle you’re in, in case you lost track.First, complete the Leyndell sewer area in your current playthrough. Then go to your inventory and check how many Rainbow Stone Arrows (Fletched) you have. If you have 10, you’re in NG. At 20, it’s NG+. 30 at NG++. Etc.Overall a very cool quality of life feature that is too often overlooked. 10/10 game design.

Anonymous04 Sep 2024 12:38 I can’t seem to find the answer to my question so I guess I’ll just ask here. I started the dlc while I was in ng+4. From my understanding the dlc is scaled as if it were ng for the first playthrough. When I beat Redahn and came back to the dlc in ng+5 is the dlc scaled up to ng+5 or do I have to go through the dlc another 6 times to get the dlc to ng+7 difficulty?

Rydreeck22 Aug 2024 14:32 Just noted: NG+2 and beyond have their columns shifted. SpEffectID values are the health values (how tf are SpEffectID multiplied by something?), health values are the defense ones, defense are resistance ones, resistance are poise dmg taken, poise values are atk rating, atk rating values are stamina damage, and stamina damage column's values are entirely wrong and should be removed.

Anonymous16 Jul 2024 12:55 Something is up with NG+ in the DLC. I took 2 characters; one on NG and one on NG+ and played through the DLC. I fully completed it with my NG character with LV 20 scadutree upgrade, and made it to Messemer with my NG+ character with LV 14 scadutree upgrade. When I went into NG+ with my first character, I found the enemies were essentially reset to their original strength scaling, as if I had no scadu upgrade despite still having it. My other NG+ character is still dealing more damage at only scadu 14, and the enemies drop more runes despite both characters both being on NG+.It's as if my NG character lost all scadu benefits upon reaching NG+, since all the enemies are harder than my other NG+ character, but I'm receiving roughly 15% less runes despite it being more difficult. What's going on?

Also since bleed deals percentage damage and enemies have 45+% more health it actually becomes more effective. Very unfair compared to base difficulty.

Anonymous22 May 2024 04:12 The poise damage debuff starting in NG+2 does get annoying, but it makes sense. Enemies have much more HP and defense in NG+7, and it's not likely you're doing that much more damage than you were whenever your build hit its peak in NG or NG+1. While it's not an exact science, less poise damage per attack over la longer battle should mean a similar number of total stance breaks. I think they just didn't want 50% more staggering to occur because a boss now has that much more HP to work through.

Anonymous20 May 2024 03:45 The 40% stance damage reduction on +7 is a bit crappy, if the Physick tear completely negated that I wouldn't even be mad as it'd be a pretty neat counter to a hard mode buff to all enemies and bosses, but alas it only grants 30% more Stance damage for 30 seconds. However, add Cragblade on top of that and you also get another 10%, making it 40% in total.Completely negating the +7 stance resistance for half a minute with both active.

Anonymous30 Apr 2024 11:34 I wish ER had better incentives to play NG+. Right now it's being able to get two of a unique weapon so you can powerstance them, that's it. Admittedly, I think it's harder to make open-world non-linear games as replayable. With a linear game, you MUST defeat these enemies to move forward, so there's a clear objective and reward for playing. I also think we're overpowered in NG+. It's fun to start a new game and wreck these enemies that gave you so much trouble before, but that fun doesn't last long... It's not fun to no longer have obstacles. Dark Souls 2, for all its faults, did NG+ right. There were new invaders, a few fun boss change-ups, and new weapons via new boss soul drops. It would be great if ER made a small DLC that made NG+ more than just doubling unique weapons and PS achievement hunting.

Anonymous31 Jan 2024 03:04 It is impossible to use more than 2 of the same weapon at the same time (yes I know you can equip up to 6 of the same weapon if you really want to, but you can't -use- more than 2 of them at once), and more than 1 of everything else at the same time. Since you can get everything bar 2 talismans in one run, and since the runes dropped by enemies basically flatlines after NG+2, there is no reason at all to go any further than NG+2 IMO. If you're at the end of the second run on a toon, you may as well stay there and just make a new toon for any new runs, in all honesty.

How to get to Shadow of the Erdtree NG+
To play the Shadow of the Erdtree New Game Plus, you will need to defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood in the base game. Return to the Cocoon of the Empyrean and touch the hand to enter the Shadow Realm. You will need to make sure you have completed everything before you wish to start NG+.
What Changes in Shadow of the Erdtree NG+
Just like in the base game, enemies will still scale and get stronger in the Shadow Realm, so looting items and collecting Shadow Blessings might get a bit more difficult. You will keep your Shadow Blessings and also be able to collect them again in NG+. However, if you are not able to collect all of them in your first playthrough, you will still be able to find them in your NG+ playthroughs. There are 50 Scadutree Fragments with a maximum level of 20 and 25 Revered Spirit Ash with a maximum level of 10, the maximum level of your Shadow Blessings will not go higher than its current maximum level.

What changes with NG+?
You will find some differences when starting a new playthrough through NG+:
Enemies and bosses deal more damage and have more health. The amount of increase varies based on enemy and location, with larger increases in lower-level areas. The poise damage and higher stagger resistances interact with each other to increase difficulty. Some enemies are much more difficult to stagger or poise break as a result.
The breakdown of how scaling works per level area and per ng is as follows pulled from datamined files and tested in-game:

Multiplayer HP boss scaling data:
1 more player: x 1.6
2 more players: x 2.3
3 more players: x 2.7
Formula to determine boss health in any location, ng+ value, and number of players:
((Boss base HP × map region multiplier) × multiplayer scaling) × NG+ scaling = boss HP
Examples:
Starting in NG+2, or Journey 3, all enemies take reduced Stance damage:
NG+2: 5% reductionNG+3: 10%NG+4: 15%NG+5: 20%NG+6: 30%NG+7: 40%
Other changes:
Note: NG+ does not introduce any new enemies or equipment.
What happens after Journey 8 of Elden Ring?
Journey 8 (NG+7) marks the end of Elden Ring's new game scaling; all subsequent journeys will have an identical level of difficulty and rewards.
At this point, players can choose to pursue their own defined goals, such as:
DLC+
On top of the new game plus cycle, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC gets more challenging in your first NG+ cycle after beating Promised Consort Radahn. All enemies' health bars are increased, and the damage they deal increases as well. For example, if you first play the DLC in Journey 2 after having never beaten it before, it will be easier than it would be if you'd beaten it in Journey 1 and then played it again in Journey 2.
The DLC+ increase is permanent for a save file, but it only happens once, so you're either in DLC+ because you started a new game after beating the DLC, or you're not. Being in DLC+ doesn't affect anything other than enemy health and attack power, and it doesn't affect anything in the base game.
