Oklahoma Baptist University is a private liberal arts college founded in 1910 in the city of Shawnee, in central Oklahoma. The modern university exists today on a 210 acre campus in one of Shawnee’s urban areas. OBU still maintains close links with the Baptist Church, and as such the university draws heavily from its traditional Christian principles.

In terms of academia, the university’s programmes of study are organised into seven separate colleges. These colleges are devoted to Fine Arts, Business, Nursing, Theology and Ministry, Humanities and Social Studies, Science and Mathematics, and Graduate and Professional Studies. In total, the university offers over 70 different programmes of study at both graduate and undergraduate level. This includes a number of more unique theological courses such as degrees in Christian Ministry and Religion.

The university requires that all single students under the age of 21 must reside on campus, as many similar colleges do. As the result, OBU offers an extensive range of different accommodation options for its students, in both residence halls and apartment complexes. As well as this, the university also offers a number of different prepaid meal plans for students, with cafes, grills and coffee shops available on campus.

Recreational activities also exist on campus, with the university and its students maintaining a number of different student organisations and clubs. As well as this, in common with similar institutions, OBU also has a fully-fledged competitive athletics programme, the university’s team being known as the Bisons.

OBU has produced a number of famous alumni, including William R. Pogue, NASA astronaut, and US senator Huey Long.

The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry invites applications for the position of University lecturer in Agrotechnology starting on 1.8.2026 or by mutual agreement. Agrotechnology research focuses on the development of environmentally sustainable technologies for farming and food production. A strong emphasis is on technology innovation and sustainability by taking into account the interaction between technology, plants, animals, environment and society. Many future trends in agriculture require adoption of new technologies and their integration within existing processes. Electrification of machinery, automation, information systems, and machine intelligence represent technological methods that are important for future in order to develop environmentally sustainable farming processes, improve energy and production efficiency, and mitigate environmental impacts. The responsibilities include research and teaching on agricultural production technologies, covering topics such as modern technologies in plant and/or animal production future cultivation methods, precision farming and automation energy efficiency The university lecturer must have the readiness to acquire research funding. In addition, the appointee will participate in the management of degree programmes, joint teaching, and other related tasks. The appointee gets to develop teaching and research of the field as a member of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, Viikki campus and the University of Helsinki together with relevant stakeholder groups. The position offers a possibility to teaching and research with new and future technologies in agriculture and utilisation of digital methods in teaching and research. The appointee must have the necessary pedagogical skills for teaching and motivation for renewing and developing research and teaching. The responsibilities of the university lecturer also include participating in collaboration with other educational institutions in their field, student marketing for the bachelor's and master’s programmes, as well as engaging in societal interaction. Research Fellow in Medical Machine Learning (Cystic Fibrosis) The University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Medical Machine Learning to work on an externally funded collaborative research project focused on chest X-ray analysis in cystic fibrosis. The post will be based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and will involve close collaboration with Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at University Hospital Southampton. The role is fully externally funded via a recharge from a University Hospital Southampton Principal Investigator fund. The role Working with appropriate guidance and supervision, the post holder will undertake applied research in machine learning and artificial intelligence for medical imaging. The focus of the role is the development, validation and interpretation of machine-learning models applied to large-scale clinical chest X-ray datasets, with the aim of improving disease characterisation and clinical decision-making in cystic fibrosis. The post holder will be expected to: Design, implement and evaluate machine-learning and deep-learning models for medical imaging Work closely with clinical collaborators to ensure clinical relevance and robustness Publish high-quality research outputs in peer-reviewed journals Present findings at national and international conferences Contribute to future funding applications in clinical artificial intelligence and digital health About you You will have substantial practical experience in machine learning, data science or artificial intelligence, supported by a strong theoretical understanding. This will normally have been gained through relevant research or professional experience and/or postgraduate qualifications. Near-completion or completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. machine learning, computer science, engineering, data science) is desirable. You will be able to work effectively across disciplinary boundaries, communicate complex technical ideas clearly, and manage your research activities within agreed objectives and timelines. Additional information The role involves working with sensitive clinical imaging data. An honorary contract / Letter of Access with University Hospital Southampton will be required.
