Average Guess (32 Votes)6ft 10.38in (209.3cm) Canson said on 11/Jan/26He really could be 6’10.5 the more I see but not more than that I doubt Caleb 5'10.25" said on 8/Jan/26@SDNInteresting. Brad Daugherty was described as both 6'11.5" and 6'11.75" before. Canson said on 28/Dec/25@SDN: 6’10.5 is possible for him maybe best fit for his lunchtime really Canson said on 25/Dec/25@Wingspan: he would either fall into 6’10 or 6’10 1/2”. He could pass for either of them (I would guess he is a bit over the 10 mark). SDN said on 25/Dec/25Here's a photo of the 1988 Eastern Conference All Stars and Ewing has at least 1 inch on Kevin McHale and maybe 1/4 inch on Brad Daugherty. Click Here Wingspan said on 21/Dec/25He needa a "6'10.25 male" category Canson said on 29/Nov/25@Rising: here mourning was told he was 6’8”. Probably not that low when he was in the pros but his measurement of 6’9.5 seems eerily similar to what he was given in college. Maybe 6’8.5 at a low or well 6’9” tho. Rob alluded to over 6’8 under 6’9Click Here Canson said on 29/Nov/25@Rising: yea 6’9 for smith and it says here that Jeff grayer is 6’6” but he was listed 6’5 in the nba. All the others are an inch shorter than their listings in the nba. Majerle has a 6’5 listing here which I’ve always suspected he really is (maybe a hair over 6’5 at best) and augmon 6’7 (he measured 6’6 1/2” at the combine) and I suspect Robinson is prob a weak 7’0”. Prob a guy who measured 6’11 1/2” at night perhapsClick Here Canson said on 29/Nov/25@Rising: yea chance that Ewing was 6’10 1/2”. Here are some pics. I’d have guessed Oakley at prob max 6’8” and smith at 6’9”.Smith was listed 6’9 on the USA rosters I think Click Here Canson said on 25/Nov/25@Rising: you said you met Houston? Would you have guessed him over 6’5”? Or under? At times I’d have said he’s solid 6’5” but other times underHere is one with Melo where the 6’4.75” he was supposedly measured looks right but the next one he looks shorter but Melo has a substantial footwear advantage over Houston. Houston has flats on Click HereClick HereClick HereClick HereClick HereClick HereThen with stoudemire i couldn’t tell who has more footwesr maybe Houston but maybe similar? Rob may be right with stoudemire that he gained. Maybe he is a full 6’9 (I think 6’9,25 is too high)Click HereClick Here Rising174cm said on 13/Nov/25@Canson: I think Ewing could be anywhere around 6'10.5" or 6'11", depending in part on the time of day. He does look more 6'10.5" than 6'11" with John Starks here: Click Here Starks didn't look more than about 6'2" range to me, but I think that photo provides an advantage from left to right since even a 6'11" Ewing would make Charles Oakley look barely 6'7", and I don't think he's that short. I agree that Ewing doesn't look taller than that with Shaq, but I'd imagine he was very similar to 6'11" Greg Oden: Click Here Oden did consistently have 2" on Durant in 2007 so I think his 6'11" measurement is believable, and I'd say Ewing is unquestionably taller than a guy like Durant either way. On Mourning, I'm unaware of shoe measurements from the early 90s so I think it's more likely that he got an early/generous measurement like Dwyane Wade, and the half inch disparity between Mourning's reported 1988 and 1992 measurements equals the difference between Wade's claim and purported 2003 measurement. Many NBA players don't grow after 18 so Mourning could have just measured earlier in 1992 than 1988. Larry Johnson supposedly measured 6'5.5" the year before Mourning in 1991 so it's very likely that he was not at his low and dropped to at least 6'5.25". Canson said on 9/Nov/25@Rising: my guess is Ewing could be 6’10.5 based on how he looks with Shaq. As for mourning my guess is 6’8.5” barefoot (probably his low for the day) and the 6’9.5 prob is shoe height but maybe you’re right because he can pull off 6’9 at timesI met LJ and I would put him 6’5 maybe 6’5 and change (maybe 6’5.25) maybe not quite as tall as Ralf Moeller wherr he may get his at a low and it looked prob not quite 4” but maybe in the 3.5” range between LJ and Zo Rising174cm said on 5/Nov/25The origin of the 6'10" figure is dubious to say the least and comes from a list of the 1992 Dream that knocked 2" off every one of their NBA listings, including Larry Bird at 6'7", David Robinson at 6'11", and Michael Jordan at 6'4", with the lone exception being John Stockton at 6'0". Hakeem Olajuwon claimed to be 6'11" and some have said he was 6'10.75" but is likely closer to 6'10" flat himself, though Hakeem was taller than Kevin Durant even in 2024, and Patrick Ewing looked at least an inch taller: Click Here Click Here There's no indication that Ewing was measured when he was drafted and was only listed at 7'0" in 1985 articles, although his wingspan was regularly mentioned at either nearly 8 feet or 8 feet when he was drafted and a rookie. This suggests to me that he was near enough 7'0" by typical NBA standards and likely 6'11" barefoot, give or take a fraction, as he looked with Olajuwon, and like Greg Oden, whom Ewing looked similar to in 2007. The only Olympics that appears to have actually measured a few guys was 1988, when they didn't have NBA listings to simply subtract from as appears to have been done in 1992 and 2000. David Robinson apparently came out at 7'0", which is plausible, and an 18 year old Alonzo Mourning was said to have been 6'9", which doesn't rule out the 6'9.5" from 1992, but in Mourning's case, that figure sometimes looks a bit high, particularly with someone like Shaq, who could look more than 3" taller. It's possible Mourning's 6'9.5" was similar to Dwyane Wade's purported 6'3.75" a half inch high and Mourning simply never grew past 6'9" flat. Caleb 5'10.25" said on 26/Sep/25Accurate listing. Likely identical in height to Chris Bosh. Canson said on 22/Sep/25@Editor Rob: how tall would you put Alonzo Mourning here? He was supposedly measured 6’9.5” but has claimed 6’8”. I don’t know about as low as 6’8 flat but I can buy 6’8 1/2” as his barefoot height. Probably at worst. Maybe 6’9” flat or up to 6’9” Click Here Click Here Click Here Click Here Click Here Click HereEditor RobLooks taller than 6ft 8, but a full 6ft 9 I'm not sure on. Canson said on 11/Sep/25@Editor Rob: correct. They agree with your estimate, they also estimated Alonzo mourning around 6’8-6’9 range which looks right next to Ewing and mutombo they couldn’t give an estimate but said that the 7’2 was likely his listed height and that he probably was about 7’1” like he measured 7’1.25”. That checks out with Ewing too. They also mentioned victor page who played for them in late 90s and they estimated him correctly, he was listed 6’3 with GT but looked 6’2-6’3 to them which is the consensus amongst those who have seen him and is rare that someone measures barefoot close to what they are listedEditor RobThe taller (and further) away from your own eyes, the harder it can be to guess. Canson said on 10/Sep/25@Editor Rob: speaking with some older friends who were around at GT when he was there, you are correct. These are guys I played men’s league with. They were saying 6’10 to 6’10 1/2” range is a possibility. They didn’t think as high as 6’11” though so prob spot on. They mentioned Mourning being a bit smaller prob 6’8-6’9 range as they have seen him and others such as mutombo up closeEditor RobInteresting, but I think the more you look at him, the 6ft 10-10.5 zone looks believable. Canson said on 25/Aug/25@Duhon: Russell was measured 6’9 5/8”, that looks like it’s a low for him as I could see him measurijt taller except when he’s next to wilt. He was listed at 6’10 and 6’9” both, What I was saying is bird looks under 6’9 next to him which he does. Itd probably the pics and I doubt bird was that much under 6’9 at night but I don’t rule out him measuring 6’8.75 esp if Rob considered this a Lunch. problem is a true lunch for most is only 1/8” or so above there afternoon/evening so you may get guys like Kobe listed at his low (I can believe Kobe was a bit over the 6’4.75 mark at his low) and you can get a guy like Steph who would be under 6’2 at his low Duhon said on 23/Aug/25Wasn't Russell actually closer to 6'10" than a flat 6'9" like he's sometimes listed at? He's in his late 70s here and holds up quite well with Tim Duncan Click Here Canson said on 22/Aug/25@Rampage and Reach JTM: I have to wonder if bird dipped to maybe 6’8.75 or a bit under at night at times? Even with bill russell he didn’t look 6’9 although I do wonder if Russell gained a fraction Canson said on 22/Aug/25@Rampage: an argument can be made for 6’10 1/2” for Ewing. Bird may have been a guy who fell under 6’9 at his low tho and Ewing could have been 6’10.25” at his. Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 21/Aug/25Bird was a solid 6ft9 and Ewing was at least an inch taller…… reachjtm said on 21/Aug/25he looks 2 inches taller than bird but starting to believe bird was closer to 6'8 peak. Canson said on 19/Aug/25@Editor Rob: yea and even at times Shaq struggled to look 7’0. Like next to Kareem. I agree Ewing at times was 6’10-6’10.5 range Click Here Click Here In second link Kareem is aged and height loss is obvious Duhon said on 18/Aug/25I think Ewing was more of a weak 6'11", than a strong 6'10". He was noticeably taller than Hakeem who I think was 6'10" flat. Canson said on 18/Aug/25@Editor Rob: May even be 6’10 1/2” at times like next to magicEditor RobThat figure might be worth considering for him. You can see him with Shaq where I think he seems more closer to 10 than 10.5 though, but you have to take account of all you've seen to come up with a guess. Wingspanpro said on 15/Aug/25Good upgrade @Rob thx. Patrick ewing is obviously bigger than Hakeem the Dream. Here's a photo with Bird. There's almost 2 inches difference here. Click Here Click Here Sabastian said on 5/Aug/25Hey rob do you think a slight upgrade? Is possible cause next to 6 9 bird Ewing looks at least a 1 and a half taller in every photoEditor RobIt's probably a reasonable shout, he could look a big 6ft 10 guy. Canson said on 18/May/25He looks 6’10 with Dikembe. 6’10.25 is prob fair for him as well Click Here Canson said on 25/Feb/23@Mickie: those are probably fair. I can see Hakeem as low as 6’9.5 too if Ewing is 6’10 flat Mickie said on 24/Aug/22Yeah Ewing and Giannis should both get 6'10.25" imo. And Hakeem at 6'9.75" sounds right, I wouldn't even cry foul with him at 6'10" but I'm not saying it'd be better than 6'9.75". Canson said on 23/Aug/22@Mickie: maybe 6’10.25 and then list Hakeem the Dream at 6’9.75” Mickie said on 21/Aug/22@ Shane Gray - I actually like that the NBA doesn't inflate as badly anymore. When I was a kid and first started watching NBA I believed the listed heights like Charles Barkley being 6'6" or Ewing at 7 ft (that's some clue as to my age lol). Mickie said on 21/Aug/22I really think he should get 6'10" and change. Shane Gray said on 6/Aug/22@Audrey200 It remained mostly the same until 19-20 when the NBA began using their insane new policy which tries to dictate how teams list their players, of which most players and teams hate, is inconsistent and messes up 40 years of height comparisons. Canson said on 19/Jul/22@Robbe: Ewing only looks about half inch maybe 2 cm taller than Dream. Ewing has thicker hair than Olajuwon does. As for Howard and Olajuwon, Dream may be taller but that pic may not be the best. I’ve seen other ones where Howard can actually look as tall. Ewing next to Mutombo or Shaq looks the 6’10 he’s listed here. Maybe he was a touch over 6’10 peak height. I’d say Olajuwon May be max 6’9.75”. Maybe 6’10.25 and 6’9.75 or 6’9.5”. Mario Elie says Dream is closer to 6’9”. One of the pics has to be slightly off as I can’t see Ewing being 2” taller than Howard either Click Here Robbe said on 19/Jul/22If Hakeem is 6'10 then Patrick appears 6'11 Click Here Big question is how tall Hakeem really is? He does looks a good inch taller than Dwight Howard, who is not under 6'9, so i believe Hakeem is indeed at least 6'10 Click Here Height chart Click Here Maybe Patrick needs a slight upgrade? Canson said on 18/Jul/22I doubt he dipped below 6’10 throughout the course of the day. I can see an argument for 6’10.25 Tall Sam said on 16/Jul/22Could see him as a strong 6’10”, a powerful guy I think despite being predictably over listed. Canson said on 13/Jul/22@Viper: the 6’11 may have been in shoes Canson said on 13/Jul/22Harry Sachs said on 12/Jul/22 Andrey200 The NBA still inflates their players height. DeAndre Jordan was measured barefooted at 6'9 but he is/was listed at 6'11. Steph Curry was measured at 6'2 but he was listed at 6'4 for years until he got listed back at 6'2 @Harry Sachs: not quite. Curry was never listed 6’4”. He was listed 6’3 and now 6’2”. DeAndre Jordan has always been listed 6’11 correct but he was measured 6’9.75”. That’s definitely not a morning measurement for him either. He is taller than Durant and looks 6’10 usually. 2008 pre draft measurements were held in the afternoon.
