I know they are suppose to be toddler age clothes, but what age do they correspond to? I just bought LO 24 months clothes, is that the last size that is in months? Would 1T be next, and are the Ts suppose to last roughly a year? So for an average size LO, are 1T suppose to be for a three year old?

  • mMamaOwl83 Posted 08-05-12Next size is 2t and its meant for 2 year old toddler. Then 3 and 4 follow suit. 24 months is usually wider while 2t is usually longer. My 2 year old son wears 3t shirts because he has a long torso, but 18-24 months in pants because he's thin and has no hips. You size based on your child.
  • mMocha Mama Bear Posted 08-05-12At Carter's the sizes go 12mo, 18mo, 24mo, then 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T followed by kid's sizes 4, 5, 6, and 7. It'd help to look at a size chart, as there's not much difference between 24mo and 2T and 4T and 4 (and so on). http://www.carters.com/Sizing/cs-sizingOpens a new window,default,pg.html?id=carters
  • mMocha Mama Bear Posted 08-05-121T would be more like 12mo, but slightly bigger, just as 2T is basically the same as 24mo.Advertisement | page continues below
  • member avatarTWizzleHizzle Posted 08-05-12I'm still confused! Does T stand for tall?
  • ttarshena08 Posted 08-05-12I think T stands for toddler..
  • ddmm81 Posted 08-05-12And from what I was told 24months runs smaller than 2t. It's all confusing to me to but I'm always buying bigger sizes especially when things are on sale just got some organic cotton t's at the disney store on sale. But I don't rely solely on sizing because my son is tall for his age at 8 months he can fit in 12 months lengthwise not so much girth wise he's on the thin side.

That's confusing. I guess when family asks I'll just tell them the size that will definitely be at least big enough for him, and he can always grow into them.

  • member avatarannieru27 Group OwnerPosted 08-05-12Someone once told me that the toddler clothes aren't cut to account for a diaper the way the months clothes are. I don't know if that's true or not but that's what I've heard.
  • member avatarangeelarose Posted 08-05-12

It is confusing! I just try to go based on each brands size chart.

  • cCanne33 Posted 08-05-12I was told lol that 2t ,3t etc are better for potty trained LOs as they don't have as much room for diapers and usually no snap crotches. Also the toddler sizes run longer. Not totally positive just what I hear and what I googled :)
