Pokémon Sword & Shield: How To Find & Evolve Seedot Into Shiftry

Seedot is one of the more unique Pokémon designs out there. It takes the simple idea of an acorn Grass-type and turns it into a wicked Grass/Dark-type. That type combo wasn't used too often before Pokémon Sword & Shield, where it will soon be the type of the new Mythical Pokémon Zarude. As for what Seedot's final evolution – Shiftry – is, it's based on a wicked Japanese mythological being called a tengu. Tengu were known to be cruel and wield leaf fans, which is probably where the inspiration for Shiftry came from.

If you want to add this plant of questionable morals to your Galar team, you'll need a copy of Pokémon Sword. It's exclusive to that version, so Shield players will need to find a trade. If you own Sword, then read on to learn where to find Seedot.

Where To Catch Seedot In Pokémon Sword

For the most part, Seedot likes to hang out in the tall grass. It can be found there in Route 2 and the Wild Area's Dappled Grove. Sometimes, during overcast weather, it will be walking around West Lake Axewell. Seedot can also be a Max Raid battle in Bridge Field, Dappled Grove, and Stony Wilderness.

Seedot evolves into Nuzleaf at level 14. To get Nuzleaf to evolve into Shiftry, you'll need a Leaf Stone. In Pokémon Sword, Leaf Stones can be found at the Lake of Outrage or in Turffield, from the Digging Duo, or as a PokéJob reward.

If you're really lucky, Shiftry might show up as an overworld encounter in Dappled Grove. It could also show up as a Max Raid Battle in Bridge Field, Dappled Grove, Stony Wilderness, and West Lake Axewell.

What Shiftry Does In Battle

Shiftry Trainers can take advantage of its sneakiness in a two big ways. Its Pickpocket Ability steals an item from the opponent. This could be great for farming rare items from wild Pokémon. Or it can just use the Dark-type attack Knock Off to get rid of an opponent's item in competitive play.

To take more advantage of Shiftry's Grass typing, Trainers can use it on a sun team. Its Chlorophyll Ability works for that, doubling its speed in the sun. This can help it surprise opponents who expect Shiftry to be slow. The sun can also give Shiftry the chance to instantly use Solar Beam, although Leaf Blade is a better use of its stats.
