Pose Season 3 Release Date: When Is The Final Season Out?

Pose season three will be arriving in America on FX very soon and fans in the UK have been catching up on BBC iPlayer. The series is about New York City's LGBTQ+ and drag ball scene in the 1980s and it features some African-American and Latino icons. Sadly the series will be coming to an end after the third season and Express.co.uk has all you need to know about when it will air.

When is Pose season 3 out?

Pose was created by Steven Canals, who was keen to showcase the notorious drag ballroom scene in Harlem.

In March 2021, Canals revealed the sad news that the third season will be the final instalment of the series.

He said it had been a very tough decision to make, but he had been on an incredible journey and was content the story had been told in the right way.

The revolutionary series featured the largest-ever cast of transgender actors on a TV network.

Canals said he was passionate about telling a story about family, resilience and love.

The creator shared a video on Twitter, with the announcement that season three will premiere on May 2, 2021.

He said: "Our audience has been so incredibly supportive of the show and I wanted to tell you directly that our new season, which debuts on FX on May 2, will be its last.

"It was a very difficult decision for us to make, but this has been an incredible journey and we have told the story that we wanted to tell."

For fans in the UK, they can watch it on BBC Two from August 8, 2021.

The synopsis says: "It’s now 1994 and ballroom feels like a distant memory for Blanca, who struggles to balance being a mother with being a present partner to her new love and her latest role as a nurse’s aide.

"Meanwhile, as AIDS becomes the leading cause of death for Americans ages 25 to 44, Pray Tell contends with unexpected health burdens.

"Elsewhere, the emergence of a vicious new upstart house forces the House of Evangelista members to contend with their legacy."

Mj Rodriguez, who plays Blanca in the series, said the series would continue to act as an advocate for the LGBTQAI community. 

She said: "It means that we will carry on the torch, and we will constantly keep taking up space.

"And also, making sure we hold space for others too and having the conversation daily within those spaces to make sure that we uplift our communities, and so that it won’t be something that’s foreign, but instead it will be something that’s normal."

The third and final season will be made up of seven episodes, making it the shortest season of the series.

Season three was given the green light in June 2019, but in March 2020 filming was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rodriguez said it felt good to be making a mark on the TV community.

The star added: "This show changed my life! @stevencanals thank you for letting me take on this amazing character and woman we all know as Ms. #BlancaEvangelista!

The actress and singer joined the cast for its debut season and it has become a hugely influential part of her life.

Pose season 3 will air on BBC Two on August 8.
