Prepare To Be Scared: Six Flags Fright Fest Starts In September

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Get ready to be scared during Six Flags Great Adventure’s annual spooky tradition, Fright Fest.

The Halloween-themed event will return to the Jackson, N.J. theme park in September.

Programming will kick off on Friday, Sept. 16, running weekends and select weekdays through Halloween on Monday, Oct. 31. You can go here for the calendar and park hours before you plan your trip.

Nighttime festivities will include a fan-favorite ghoul parade, live stage shows, terrifying scare zones, as well as haunted houses designed for the ultimate scare.

Fright Fest made its return in 2021 after Six Flags hosted Hallowfest in its place in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The event featured family-friendly activities and socially-distant scaring. While Six Flags said Hallowfest was successful, Fright Fest fans were eager for the return of the park’s show lineup and full complement of haunted mazes.

We don’t have all the details about what Fright Fest will look like this year, but it’s sure to bring elaborately decorated areas, attractions for kids, like the popular Trick-or-Treat Trail, live entertainment shows, and the world’s greatest thrill rides in the dark. With its location along a mist-covered lake, the Jersey Devil Coaster will deliver five intense elements in the eerie, nighttime fog.

Haunted mazes will provide the most extreme scares for an additional fee.
