The series follows a widowed single mother whose son starts to display superpowers – the same superpowers his father had.

Here’s everything you need to know about Raising Dion season 2.

What is it about?

Nicole, a widowed single mother, is doing her best to raise her son Dion – and the already difficult parenthood dramas are complicated even further when Dion starts to develop superpowers.

Nicole and Dion must do their best to keep Dion’s powers a secret, and to work out where they came from by investigating the work done by Dion’s deceased scientist father.

As Dion gets older, new powers develop – and old villains return in new guises, as the crooked energy that killed his father possesses an eight-year-old orphan with superpowers of his own.

Who is in the cast?

Nicole is played by Alisha Wainwright. You might recognise Wainwright from Netflix series Shadowhunters, or from her appearances on the YouTube channel Smosh.

Ja’Siah Young plays Dion in his first major television role.

Michael B Jordan, who executive produces the series, appears as Dion’s father Mark. He was in three episodes of Season 1, and is expected to appear at least once in Season 2. You’ll recognise Jordan from films like Creed, Black Panther, and Just Mercy.

Rome Flynn is joining Raising Dion for Season 2 as new character Tevin Wakefield. Flynn is best known for his starring role as Gabriel Maddix in How to Get Away With Murder, but has also appeared in Dear White People, NCIS, and With Love.

Jason Ritter (Girls), Griffin Robert Faulkner (It Comes At Night), and Ali Ahn (Billions) all reprise their roles from Season 1.

Other new additions to the cast for series 2 include Rome Flynn (How to Get Away With Murder), Michael Anthony (The Game), and Josh Ventura (Queen Sugar).

Is it based on a comic book?

Yes, Raising Dion is based on a comic book.

It’s not a Marvel or DC series, like Iron Man or Batman, but instead an independent creator-owned comic.

The 2015 comic book (and short film of the same name) was written by Dennis Liu, who now executive producers this Netflix adaptation.

Is there a trailer?

Yes there is, and you can take a look at it right here.

Where can I watch it?

All eight episodes of Raising Dion will be available to stream on Netflix immediately from February 1 2022.

Why should I watch it?

It’s very much family viewing, taking the superhero boom and turning it into something that’s made with its real audience in mind.
