Security Guard Card Training Program

The State of Connecticut has approved Hartford Public Library's Security Officer Training Program, commonly known as the "Guard Card" class. The successful completion of this one-day program will qualify candidates to apply for a Security Officer ID card issued by the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection. (C.G.S. Sec 29-161q)

Class Fee:	$100* payable by check or money order only Registration and payment are required before class. NOTE: Payments and registration can be dropped off at the Main Library . (refer to the schedule below)

Class Dates Registration Deadlines Wednesday, January 14 Wednesday, January 7 Wednesday, February 11 Wednesday, February 4 Wednesday, March 25 Wednesday, March 18 Wednesday, April 15 Wednesday, April 8 Wednesday, May 13 Wednesday, May 6 Wednesday, June 10 Wednesday, June 3 NOTE: Payments and registration can be dropped off at the Main Library . *Cancellations three business days prior to class will be refunded $75.00 (*$25.00 of the $100.00 fee is nonrefundable) *No refunds for individuals who do not cancel three business days prior to the scheduled class, or attend class but leave early. FREQUENTLY USED INFORMATION Call the CT Dept. of Emergency Services & Public Protection with any questions at (860) 685-8046, including if you lose your license. Your license is good for five years. It costs $100 every five years to renew your license. You do not have to retake the course as long as you do not let it expire. If the license is expired for more than 30 days, you are treated as a brand new student. You will have to retake the class and pay all the fees like a new student. After the Class

After completing the course, applicants will be responsible for the following:

--> Filling out the application (DPS135C)

--> Copy of current driver’s license

--> 1 passport style photo

--> Obtaining fingerprints

--> Complete naturalization paperwork (if applicable)

--> Checks or money orders for:

• $100 application fee
• $75 CT background check
• $13.25 FBI check
