Sekiro Save File Location - Where To Find Save Game Data

GosuNoob.com Video Game News & Guides

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has an auto-save feature. It doesn’t let players save manually, or in multiple slots, to avoid save data manipulation. However, you can make manual backups of save game files, which you can then restore if you don’t like how things are working out. It’s easy enough to do on console, but PC players would need to know where exactly to look for the files. This guide is going to show you Sekiro save file location, to help you get around the limitations.

Sekiro Save File Location – Where to find Save Game Data

Sekiro save data location

In order to find the save files, you’ll have to go to C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Sekiro. You’ll find a bunch of stuff there – some if it config files, some of it is your save data. Just to be safe, copy everything into a separate folder. If and when you decide to restore to a previous state, make sure you still keep the old files as backup. The game uses Steam cloud for saves, which means it could overwrite the restored version with the newer one if something goes wrong.

Keep in mind, though, that the AppData folder is hidden. If you want to access it, you’ll have to enable the option to see hidden files. Go to the Control Panel and open up File Explorer Options. Switch to the View tab and look for the first radio button in the list. One of the options should be “Show hidden files, folders and drives”. Select that one and you’ll be good to go.

If you’re a console user, it’s a pretty simple process – you just use the same tool you use for every game and don’t worry about stuff like folder structure or hidden files. Each console has its own means of backing up save files, screenshots and other data.

Thanks. Dying can be a real pain in the butt with losing sen, experience points and even spreading Dragonrot. Devs are some sadistic moffos, aren’t they? To avoid it I’ve thought of a workaround: just make a copy of your save files from time to time and whenever you die, crash the game from the task manager and replace the save files with the backup.
