Shin Megami Tensei V: How To Unlock Every Ending - Screen Rant

Shin Megami Tensei V has been released for the Nintendo Switch, and in proper fashion with the series, there are several endings for players to unlock. Multiple branch endings have been a staple component of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, and Shin Megami Tensei V continues that tradition in its own right. The various endings are heavily determined by the choices that players make throughout the game, steering Nahobino towards a lawful, chaotic, or neutral alignment. Shin Megami Tensei V has three endings that can always be accessed regardless of the alignment, and a fourth ending that is hidden unless certain perquisites are met.

Regardless of the ending that players choose, there are several commonalities that they can expect. The first is that the Empyrean area has the same layout no matter which ending is chosen, but the end bosses face are different. Additionally, the three mini-boss fights in the Empyrean will always be the same no matter which ending is chosen as well. Players will always have to face three Melchizedek, a Sraosha, and an Alilat. Also, an NPC will always charge 666,000 Macca to accept an ending if it does not align with the choices made throughout Shin Megami Tensei V various difficulties. The final decision to either switch or confirm an ending choice is made shortly after defeating Metatron at the top of the Temple of Eternity. Players will know whether or not they have picked the ending that aligns with Nahobino if they are not charged with the 666,000 Macca.

Another commonality between all of the endings is that Demeter will always be in the Empyrean with the final quest. The Bull God's Lineage quest does have to be completed first in order for this to happen, which unlocks both Demeter and Zeus for fusion. Furthermore, a Maria NPC always has a quest available in every timeline provided players have the Seed of Life key item, although each quest is slightly different from one another. The Seed of Life is awarded, however, at 75% completed compendium for the entire Shin Megami Tensei V game. After the credits, players will always unlock Nuwa, Herald Abdiel, and Fallen Abdiel for fusion regardless of the ending chosen. The last commonality between all endings is that the Miracles Divine Persuasion and Divine Eminence are always unlocked at the end of a new game plus. Divine Persuasion allows players to demons to occasionally join fights at random, and Divine Eminence allows Nahobino to negotiate with higher-level demons.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Unlock The Lawful Ending

Shin Megami Tensei V Ending

This is the ending aligned with Abdiel and Ichiro Dazai, where humanity devotes itself to god and in an attempt to lead prosperous lives, but at the cost of their individuality. It is the Shin Megami Tensei V equivalent of a "lawful" ending. Choosing this ending if it aligns with the player's choices throughout the game will reward the Miracle Rank Violation, which removes the Level limitation for Demon Fusion. Additionally, Maria’s quest, The Compassionate Queen, is unique to this route and will unlock Maria for fusion.

Furthermore, a Melchizedek, an NPC character in Shin Megami Tensei V, with a message from Michael is part of this route. Head to the end of the Temple of Eternity to meet Michael and receive The Seraph’s Return quest. This quest is unique to this ending, and by completing this quest Michael is added to the party and unlocked for fusion.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Unlock The Chaotic Ending

Shin Megami Tensei V Final Decision

This is the ending aligned with Hayao Koshimizu and Yuzuru Atsuta, which sees the world led by a pantheon of gods instead of one singular god. It is the Shin Megami Tensei V equivalent of a "chaotic" ending. In this end, people and gods have free will and they are able to make decisions for themselves. However, their free will comes at the expense of constant conflict and disagreement. Choosing this ending if it aligns with the player's choices throughout the game will reward the Miracle Inheritance Violation, allowing a demon’s starting skills to be overwritten when after fusion.

Head to the end of the Demon King castle to meet Belial and receive The Red Dragon’s Invitation quest. This quest is unique to this ending, and by completing this quest Belial is added to the party and unlocked for fusion.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Unlock The Neutral Ending

Shin Megami Tensei V Ending NPC Confirms Nahobino's Decision

This is the ending aligned with Nuwa and Shohei Yakumo, where there is no ruler at all, and everyone is left to fend for themselves. This ending sees Nahobino take a back seat role in the world, allowing humanity to truly have its own destiny in its hands. It is the Shin Megami Tensei V equivalent of a "neutral" ending. This ending has the lowest number of route exclusives to unlock, as well as the lowest number of end-game boss fights. For this ending, Maria's quest, The Noble Queen, unlocks Danu for fusion and it is the only unique unlock.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Unlock The Hidden Ending

Shin Megami Tensei V Ending Choice

This is the hidden ending for Shin Megami Tensei V, and it's an ending that is accessed through the neutral ending. In this Shin Megami Tensei V ending, Nahobino does not align with any individual, be it humanity, demons, or gods. Instead, Nahobino creates an entirely new world for humanity, without the existence of gods or demons. Before this ending can be selected, however, it is important that every significant quest be completed throughout the story. Significant quests exclude side quests and any other quests that decision exclusive, only their equivalent needs to be completed. This also means that New Game Plus is not required to earn the hidden ending for Shin Megami Tensei V.

This ending also has the same exclusive to unlock as the neutral ending, but the exclusivity of this ending is part of the reward. The hidden ending is only available if Nuwa appears after defeating Abdiel in the neutral ending. As the neutral ending continues, players will be given a choice to decide whether or not they wish to stick with the previous ending or select the hidden one. Like all endings before it, an NPC will charge 666,000 Macca to accept this ending if it does not align with the choices made throughout Shin Megami Tensei V's gameplay.
