I believe I had silent labor with my twins. For those who don't know silent labor is when a women is having labor contractions but doesn't feel the pain associated with it. At 32 weeks I saw some spotting. I felt my uterus contracting but I assumed these were braxton hicks. I saw my dr and he said I was 5cm dilated! I had not felt any pain whatsoever just tight flexes of my abdomen. I had to get a c/s because I had twins and one was breech but I was still in labor all the way up untill they sectioned me and had no pain. So I'm wondering if other moms have had a silent labor and when did the pain start kicking in? I plan on having a natural vbac birth this time. What are your experiences?Original poster's comments (3)go to original poster's comments pagereplied with hug5Comment Advertisement | page continues below

  • member avatarmizaditude Posted 04-17-13This is how both of my labors were. I was in labor for at least 24 hours with both babies. The first, this pain didn't start until I actually went to the hospital and they broke my water. The second time I went to the hospital when I was in pain and by the time I was in l&d I was 8cm. Whenever I'd have Braxton hicks contractions they were never painful I just felt the tightening so I had that feeling all day long (normally id just have them here snd there throughout the day) but since they weren't painful I wasn't concerned.
  • member avatarmizaditude Posted 04-17-13To me this is good because I don't really care for pain lol. But bad because I'm honestly scared I may not make it to the hospital this time since they say labor speeds up with each baby.

HAHAHA YES. With my daughter I was probably 6 to 7 cm before I was like, hm, maybe I should call my midwife, oh man but I hate to wake her up... and it was probably another hour before I was like, well I guess I should head down there... Which is why my daughter freaking fell out 15 minutes after we got to the birth center.

I have always had pain but not that would stop me in my tracks until about 7centimeters and the bag of water was broken. But I walk through contractions no matter how hard they are, it works for me and helps me feel in control. I may just be strange tho

  • hHerseyjl Posted 04-17-13Wow, i didnt know i was even having contractions until i went in for my csection and they monitored it. Good to know, im hoping for vbac as well! Good idea!

With my first I went to the dr for a regular check up she said I was 7 cm already I had no clue lol. With #2 i was on bed rest at the hospital and when docs checked me bc my mucus plug was expelled he said you are 10 cm there is no way of stopping it( son was ony 25 weeks gestation) so I guess I did not have really bad pains.
