bubi Hi, so it may just be the starter relay is dead, I have battery and bike starts when pushed and I just fit a new starter motor... I'm just wondering where the relay is and if I can bypass it or just eliminate it to see if that is why the bike won't start. It's the 97 adventurer And I have some spare electrical wire... I have a rally this weekend, you know... Thanks Here is a gratuitous pic Image ... You can jump the heavy terminals with a heavy wire and the starter motor should run. Be sure it's in neutral as all safety features are bypassed. More likely the relay isn't being triggered, possibly due to a bad clutch switch or sidestand switch. It should click when you press the starter button. #3 · May 2, 2019 Thanks wsc! So someone has done this before! Cool! I have checked the side stand, had that issue before, and the clutch seems ok. I'll have a look under the tank tomorrow... unless... it's like inside the headlamp? There's a bunch of stuff in there, I've never had a look... ... BUBI 0_0 #4 · May 3, 2019 Caution: If you jump the terminals on the relay, sparks will fly!

#11 · May 4, 2019 It' funny, I found the relay by listening to where there was a faint "nuffin happening" click when I pressed the starter button. Only when done I saw your picture! Duh! Runs like, well, new, now! ... BUBI 0_0 0 Reply #5 · May 3, 2019 Might want to get out a test light or volt meter and put it on the small lead coming from the starter button (see manual) and see what you got. I have this job awaiting me on one of my bikes as soon as I get around to it. ...J.D. #6 · May 3, 2019 Try Amazon...

I should get a spare from the other bike meanwhile I wait for a new piece to arrive. It'll probably snowstorm tomorrow... Tjanks for the moral support guys, I live in rural countryside and have to do my own maintenance most times. And I'm no expert! Image ... The motorcycles/ automobiles have been put on hold for the time being. I have a contractor friend installing heat in my garage this spring. When that is done, all my mechanical tools and equipment will be moved over there, so not a lot is getting done. This will seperate mechanical projects from the construction/woodworking projects. Tired of having sawdust mixed with my mechanic's stuff. ...J.D. Insert Quotes Post Reply
