Debated on buying another helmet because this was disgusting, then I read somewhere online to use fingernail polish remover. So I daughter around in my daughters make up **** and found a bottle (non acetone), grabbed two old dress socks and used one to wipe away the grime. The more remover the better and easier it is to remove, so I was dipping it in a small bowl repeatedly. Then I use the other sock to dry it off and see how it turned out. After about 20 min of elbow grease, the helmet is now free of all that grimy ****, and now looks brand new again. Although it is now shiny, not Matte black again. Guess if I wanted Matte black again, I could respray it with some paint, but I think now I'll leave it shiny. Anyways, wanted to post this in case anyone else was having the same issue. I'm just sayin'. Default I had a black denim helmet and it never got sticky. I kept it clean because of all the bug hits. Soap and water but mostly just water. I think the company had an overflow of the shiny domes, and wanted some Matte domes, so they painted them themselves. Default I think windex killed mine. When I had my denim fat boy I used the windex wipes to clean the bike while on the road and figured it would be great on the lid. Worked great but also gummed it up too. Looked like it had mange. Used brakeand carb cleaner to take rest of it off.
