 Poster: A snowHead Poster: A snowHead | | I bought a new ski helmet in February 2018 (so not even one year old) – took it out of its fabric storage bag on the weekend and it had a sticky sort of residue on it. The helmet (Anon brand, and at the expensive end of their range) has a matt type finish and was stored in a wardrobe (not in a shed or anywhere cold/damp). My previous helmet had a gloss type finish and never had this problem. I managed to wipe most of stickiness off with a damp cloth – but curious to know how to prevent this happening again? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks! |  | | | |

You need to Login to know who's really who. | @nicolahunter880, ok, bit more straight faced (not easy  ) if stored in its bag in a cool dry place there should be nothing on the surface. The only things that might affect it are heat and solvents, both can destroy a helmet over time. Where did you store it? Whatever, this is not normal so you need to drop an email to the manufacturer as it it just possible that there may be a production issue with your helmet. I have used isopropyl alcohol to clean off sticker residue without harming the product, but I did check with the manufacturer first. | | | | |

And the innuendos) but it was more of a rubberised coating and was a good few years old, so put it down to the coating degrading and got a new one. At the end it was so tacky you could put your hand on it flat and lift it up. | | | | |
After all it is free  After all it is free | | @nicolahunter880, I'm struggling on how to reply to this, its not an uncommon problem though I'm surprised its happens so soon on your ski helmet. It's particularly a problem in warm humid climates, lots of it on various forum's in Singapore and Hong Kong. You'll get to see more forums and be part of the best ski club on the net. | | After 9 years my POC skull-lite had the same thing happen to the rubberised shell coating, retired it, as 10 yrs is the default limit recommended by most ppe manufacturers, but to have a CE certified helmet have issues within a year I would definitely return it to them under statutory guarantee. | | | | |
