Did you always assume that Ozark was, well, filmed in the Ozarks? You may be surprised to know that the hit show actually films in Georgia, both in the Atlanta and Savannah areas. Due to generous tax breaks in the southern state, the show recreated Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks there, using lakes outside the state capital and meticulously designed sets on sound stages. Here, a few filming spots you can visit yourself for all of the lakeside ambiance, but, hopefully, none of the drug-related drama.
Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri

At the very beginning of the show, Martin "Marty" Byrde relocates his family to Osage Beach, Missouri on Lake of the Ozarks. While the show uses some shots of the actual lake, the vast majority of Ozark films in Atlanta.
Ozark's location was inspired by Missouri's real-life Alhonna Resort, where the show's creator, Bill Dubuque, worked as a dock-hand in the 1980s. The film crew studied the resort and then recreated it on sets in Georgia.
Bagnell Dam, Missouri

While the show doesn't include many shots of Missouri, they do show Bagnell Dam, a barrier constructed in 1929 to create the Lake of the Ozarks.

Much of the show was filmed at Lake Allatoona, about an hour outside of Atlanta. Jason Bateman, who stars in, produces, and directs the show, said the region offered "some really great color and grit to the aesthetic that’s perfect for the rural flavor that we want."
Lake Lanier, Georgia

Lake Lanier is the other Georgian lake featured in Ozark. Shots of the Byrde's house take place in Van Pugh North Park, on the south edge of the lake.

Early in season one, Marty takes over a diner called The Blue Cat, as a front for his drug operation. That diner was actually created for the show, but now exists as a functioning restaurant: the charming J.D.'s on the Lake, right on Lake Allatoona. The restaurant has even kept the Blue Cat signage, leftover from filming.
Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta, Norcross, Georgia

Basically all of the show's interior footage was shot at Eagle Rock Studios, a soundstage outside of Atlanta. According to The Daily Express, the locations shot on the soundstage include the interior of the Lickety Splitz strip club, Buddy Dyker’s basement, and the interior of Russ Langmore’s trailer.

In the first season's eighth episode, Agent Petty stops at a vintage diner. You can also grab a bite at this nostalgic gem, as it is Atlanta's The Silver Skillet. The restaurant is a hometown favorite and has been used as a set for other films and TV shows, as well.
Chateau Elan, Braselton, Georgia
Just 45 minutes north of Atlanta is Chateau Elan, a manicured resort known to Ozark fans as Mexican crime lord Del's home. In booking a room here, you can indeed say you stayed at a (fictional) drug cartel leader's estate.
