Summary[]

When Lucifer is framed for murder, he and Chloe must work together to clear his name and prove the identity of the true killer.[1]

Plot[]

As gets Lucifer surrounded by the police, he tries to get Chloe to see reason, and asks her if she really thinks he killed Jacob. Chloe replies that it doesn't what she believes, but Lucifer responds by telling her what she believes is all that matters to him.

Lucifer walks around the bar, laughing bitterly, and Chloe demands him to come peacefully with a shakey voice. Lucifer disobeys, and instead advances on her - disappointed at her betrayal - and says, "I'm accepting my role in all of this. All of humanity's sins are the Devil's fault, right? I mean, I thought you knew different, but I was wrong. You're just like all the others. So, why not add one more murder to the pile?" She tries to tell him that's not how it is, but he confronts a rookie, taunting him the cop to shoot him. Chloe tells the rookie Lucifer is unarmed and that they shouldn't shoot him only for Lucifer to reach into his pocket as if to grab a gun. The rookie then panics and shoots as Chloe screams, "Don't!" However, Lucifer vanishes...

Lucifer is then seen being flown onto the roof of a building by Amenadiel. Amenadiel had slowed down time and scooped him away before the bullet could kill him. Amenadiel asks what Lucifer was trying to accomplish, and Lucifer replies, "...a good death? Or at least a nice and messy one. But then you had to come and ruin everything, like always. Why'd you swoop in and stop it? Wouldn't let someone else send me to Hell, is that it? Well, guess what, brother, you don't need to kill me, because I'm done here. I've had my fun on Earth, and... there's no reason for me to stay anymore. You win. I'll go willingly. Please, just, take me back to Hell." However, Amenadiel refuses. He then admits that he realized Lucifer is right, and that people have died because of what he did to get Lucifer to go back to Hell. Amenadiel admits he lost sight of the bigger picture, "...the cost of my actions, and just how truly selfish they were. But, Luci, my eyes are wide open now, and I need to make this right." He asks for Lucifer's help to make things right - by sending Malcolm back to Hell. Lucifer, pleased that he will be able to inflict one last punishment before he returns to Hell, agrees.

An officer presents Chloe and Dan with the murder weapon of Jacob - the same revolver Dan retrieved from evidence lockup for Malcolm.

Back at Lux, Malcolm arrives as the CSI team is processing evidence at Lux. He asks Dan about what happened to Lucifer, and Dan says that Lucifer disappeared and is on the run. Malcolm walks around and finds an officer cut himself with one of Maze's daggers on accident, and Malcolm tells the officer that he'll take it to the station, walking away with the blade. Chloe is then seen pulling Dan aside to inform him that she thinks Lucifer is innocent. Dan doesn't believe it, but Chloe points out that Lucifer lives by his passion and embraces desires, but Jacob was "executed" with a bullet to the head, with zero passion, implying a frame job. Dan, still dismissive, asks who would want to frame him.

They are interrupted when officer then approaches, telling them that they have found the murder weapon. Dan takes a look at the weapon, and in his head, immediately recognizes the weapon as the revolver he had retrieved for Malcolm from the evidence lockers. He realizes it is indeed a frame job, and Malcolm is the culprit. He tells Chloe that Lucifer's prints are going to be on the revolver, but that Chloe is right about Lucifer's innocence. Dan then asks her to speak with him somewhere privately as the two leaves.

Meanwhile, Amenadiel takes Lucifer to his "Dr. Canaan" office next to Linda's to discuss how they are going to find Malcolm, but the conversation quickly devolves into an argument as Lucifer lodges insults at Amenadiel. At which point, Linda enters, and when she sees Lucifer on "Dr. Canaan's" couch, she is angry as she thinks Amenadiel is stealing her patient. However, Lucifer realizes that Linda might just the person they need to hatch a plan.

At Chloe's, she punches Dan across the face as Dan confesses the truth about Palmetto - his corruption, him being there with Malcolm, and him shooting Malcolm to protect her - to Chloe. Chloe lashes out, "You lied to me. I don't even know you, you shot a man in cold blood!... Everything that I saw at Palmetto, it was all true! You let them think I was crazy!... You let me think I was crazy!... You don't get to be sorry!... You can't take it back,... but you can make this right.... Prove Lucifer is innocent." Chloe then leaves to try and find Lucifer to repair their relationship to catch Malcolm, knowing that he is innocent and that he thinks she had abandoned and betrayed him.

In Linda's office, Linda is told Amenadiel is Lucifer's brother as Amenadiel confesses he's not a doctor. The brothers then starting arguing again, until Linda demands them to stop. Upset, Linda exposes Amenadiel for lying her about being a therapist so he could manipulate Lucifer, and then proceeds to complain that everything seems to be a joke to Lucifer - "And yet, for some reason, I take you seriously, even when you insist on clinging to these ridiculous metaphors... Heaven, Hell, angels, devils." She tells Lucifer that he came to Los Angeles to reinvent himself, but every time he has a moment of realization about himself, he takes it in the exact wrong direction. Lucifer exemplifies this as he realizes Malcolm, is also going to need to reinvent himself. The two brothers figure that Malcolm is most likely somewhere getting fake ID to start a new life, thanks Linda for her advice, and departs.

At Lux, Chloe finds Maze and tells her she doesn't think Lucifer killed Jacob, and asks Maze where Lucifer would go. Maze says she seems to know Lucifer better than her these days, and asks her where she thinks Lucifer is going. Chloe realizes that he's probably trying to get punishment for Malcolm. She leaves quickly knowing if Lucifer finds Malcolm first, then he really will go down for murder. Maze then insists on leaving with her. Chloe refuses her help, but Maze walks out with her anyways and says, "I don't see anybody else backing you up."

Amenadiel and Lucifer is seen arriving at a funeral home as they interrupts the service to talk with Neil Palmer, the funeral director. Neil recognizes Lucifer, and pulls him aside. The funeral is revealed to be faked by Neil so that the deceased man, who is secretly alive, can leave to start a new life in secret without anyone knowing. Moreover, Neil turns out to be a forger who fakes IDs and helps people start new lives as a completely different person - including Lucifer back when he first came to Los Angeles five years ago in 2011 - which is why he figures that Malcolm came to Neil. Neil admits that Malcolm did come to him, that Malcolm needed needed a fast job, that Malcolm is out to collect $100,000 for payment, and that Malcolm mentioned an associate called Tommy who he intended on getting the money from. Amenadiel finds the lead to be useless as they only have a very common first name, but Lucifer figures one "Douche" that can help them.

Chloe and Maze arrives to Malcolm's house where they are suddenly shot at with a shotgun. Chloe announces herself to be with the L.A.P.D., and the shooter turns out to be Malcolm's wife, Mel. She explains her firing at them as she thought Malcolm had returned. She confesses that he has changed drastically since he was resuscitated, that he's been strange and different, that he was just at the house frantically searching for money, and he said he was going to get some beers.

As Chloe is listening to Mel, Dan calls her and informs her that he can't find any evidence tying Malcolm to the murders. As Chloe finishes sharing what she found to Dan about what Mel told her, Dan hangs up to find Amenadiel and Lucifer in his office. Amenadiel is introduced as Lucifer's brother, before asking about a Tommy. Dan makes the connection in his head between Tommy and a beer, and Lucifer asks Dan to tell him. However, Dan says no, and Lucifer remarks that Dan is a "complicated one". He then simply uses his mojo, which causes Dan to confess that his biggest desire it to redeem himself by taking down Malcolm. Caught in Lucifer's efficacious words after the mojo, Dan tells the brothers about a drug dealer named Tommy Campolongo who works out of an old brewery. He then snaps out of Lucifer's coercion, and tells them to stay put, but Amenadiel flies them out when Dan looks away. Dan then informs Chloe about the lead regarding Tommy, and she heads over.

At the brewery, Malcolm is seen dealing with Tommy, informing him he has some seizures in evidence that he can get for Tommy in exchange for cash when they are interrupted as something echoes in the brewery. Tommy checks the security cameras to discover that one of his guards have been knocked out. Malcolm insists that it isn't him, and Tommy sends his men to investigate. However, Malcolm, taking advantage of the situation, draws his gun and commands Tommy to load it with money from his safe.

Malcolm stabs Amenadiel with a demon dagger.

Tommy's men group up as they confront Amenadiel and Lucifer. As the men draw their guns, Lucifer informs Amenadiel to forget about the time-stopping as he is immortal again in the moment, The two celestials proceed to walk through a hail of bullets, unharmed, and takes everybody down. The two brothers then split up to cover more ground so that they are able to find Malcolm, and send him back to Hell.

At the same time, Chloe and Maze arrive and start searching the brewery, while elsewhere, Malcolm ambushes Amenadiel, stabbing him with the demon dagger he took from Lux. Lucifer arrives as Amenadiel collapses and as Malcolm runs off. Amenadiel tells Lucifer to get Malcolm, but Lucifer tends to his wound. Maze then arrives and realizes that Amenadiel was attacked with one of her blades. She tells Lucifer that she'll handle it, and Lucifer sets off to chase Malcolm.

Chloe is seen getting to Malcolm first and as she fires at him, Malcolm flees for his life, leaving the bag of money behind.

Lucifer then arrives behind Chloe, unaware of her presence. She hears him behind her and Chloe aims her gun and tells him not to move. Lucifer, cognizant of his mortality around Chloe, desperately tries to convince her to let him go, "You don't know what he's done. You never believe me anyway but all you need to know is that he's here to get money and he's gonna disappear, for good." Chloe kicks the bag of money next to her, and asks, "You mean this money?" She then holsters her gun, and says, "I'm not here to arrest you, Lucifer. I know you're innocent. I always have. So let's catch this bastard together and put an end to all this." As the pair walks on, Chloe admits that as well as catching Malcolm, she wants to clear Lucifer's name so that she can keep working with him.

Golden light beams out of as a feather from is used to heal .

Golden light beams out of Lucifer's penthouse as a feather from his wings is used to heal Amenadiel.

Dan then arrives with backup and says that he found the evidence to clear Lucifer.

Over at Lucifer's penthouse, Amenadiel tells Maze that he's made his peace with death; whether that be Heaven or Hell, displaying doubt in his righteousness after what he has done. Maze then tells him to shut up and let her help him. Maze takes out a case, and inside, is a feather from Lucifer's wing. She explains that she thought that she could use it to go back home one day. Amenadiel is surprised that she would use it on him, and as she puts the feather on Amenadiel's wound, it glows intensely, filling the penthouse with light as it heals Amenadiel. The scene ends, as the camera pans out to an ariel view of Lux, with golden light beaming out the windows of the penthouse.

At the precinct, Chloe and Lucifer watches on as Dan turns in the one piece of crucial evidence he has been hiding all this time enough to clear Lucifer of the murder of Jacob, to reveal Malcolm as the suspect, and to convict himself of corruption as well as shooting another officer - himself. He confesses to the desk cop, "I'm here to turn myself in.... I removed a firearm from evidence lockup, and I gave it to Detective Malcolm Graham. I believe Detective Graham then used that weapon to shoot and kill Jacob Williams, the crime that Mr. Morningstar is suspected of."

Dan gets arrested after turning himself in.

Lucifer is impressed, and calls Dan by his title. No Detective Douche, no sarcastic Daniels, but "Detective Espinoza", and adds, "I didn't know you had the stones."

As the unis take Dan away, Chloe gets a call from home. It's Malcolm, who threatens to bring the bag of money - without the police, or Lucifer - to him or he would kill Trixie.

She takes the bag to her car, but Lucifer is waiting in a nearby police car. He confronts her and figures that she's keeping secrets from the way she's acting. Chloe admits to him that Malcolm has Trixie. She insists that her daughter's safety is all that matters. Chloe demands, "Promise me you'll let me go alone." Lucifer tells her he gives her his word.

Chloe arrives at the hangar where Malcolm had asked her to come to. The two meet, and Malcolm has Chloe slide her guns over to him before he demands the money. Chloe refuses to hand over the money until Trixie is let go. Malcolm pushes Trixie over Chloe, and Chloe tells Trixie to hide until she can come find her. Once Trixie runs off, Chloe opens the trunk of her car but Malcolm points a gun at her. He says since he wasn't able to shoot her at Palmetto, he figures that he's been given a second chance.

The confrontation is suspended, however, as paper airplane with a Devil face on it lands at Malcolm's feet and Chloe runs off whilst he's distracted. Lucifer enters, keeping his word of letting Chloe go alone, but still following her to the hangar. Lucifer asks Malcolm uses his mojo, and he asks if Malcolm really wants to kill Chloe with his second chance. Malcolm confesses that he wants to live more than "almost" anything, and shoots Lucifer in the gut. As Chloe watches in shock and horror, Lucifer collapses and Malcolm continues to confess his desires, "You feel that? That's what it's like to die, my man. I know, 'cause I've done it. And what I want, more than anything... is for you to feel that pain. To go through what I did. Because we both know where you're going to." Malcolm then takes out the pentecostal coin, holding it just out of Lucifer's reach, and tells him that he'll be sending Chloe right behind him.

Malcolm then goes to find Chloe, while Lucifer speaks to his Dad on his final breathes. He pleads, "I don't know if this is all part of the plan. Or if You can even hear me. But if You're up there... Dad... I need a favor. I'll be the son You always wanted me to be. I'll do as You ask. Go where You want me to. In exchange, all I ask is... is that You protect Chloe." With that, he dies, and finds himself back in Hell. He walks through the corridors to a room, where a door is seen broken, meaning the person inside has escaped. Lucifer remarks that it isn't possible... and is suddenly resurrected back in the hangar.

tries to grab the as it burns away.

Malcolm tries to grab the pentecostal coin as it burns away.

He sits up, eyes glowing red, as he goes looking for Malcolm.

Amongst the shelves of the hangar, Malcolm finds Chloe and prepares to shoot her when he is suddenly punched down by Lucifer. As he tries to get back up, Chloe grabs her gun from the floor and fires four shots Malcolm. Dying, Malcolm gloats to Lucifer about the coin and how he'll be back. However, as Malcolm searches himself for the the coin, Lucifer holds it up. Malcolm asks, "How?" Lucifer replies that he knows a "Guy", Who apparently wants him back on Earth. He tosses it up into the air and the coin disappears after one use. Lucifer then kneels down, watching Malcolm die in fear.

Chloe then calls to Trixie and she comes out. As the mother and daughter hug, Lucifer walks over. Chloe says she thought Malcolm killed had him, which Lucifer confirms, but says he "got better". She then reminds him of his promise of letting her go alone and his principle of honesty, but Lucifer tells her that she didn't say anything about following.

Lucifer goes home to find Amenadiel snoring on his couch, he tells Amenadiel that Malcolm is taken care of, and Amenadiel then asks where Maze is, which Lucifer informs him that he doesn't know either.

Lucifer then fills Amenadiel in on his interaction with God to the shock of Amenadiel - that he spoke to Dad and offered his services, to which Dad accepted. Lucifer explains that in exchange for what Lucifer wanted, Dad showed him an escapee from Hell, and figures that God wants him to "bring the jailbird back". Amenadiel smiles as he figures that it should be easy, but quickly drops the smile when he realizes that Lucifer is afraid. He asks what could possibly scare Lucifer, and who escaped Hell. Lucifer replies, "Mum."
