The Teamfight Tactics (TFT) ranked seasons have an average duration of 4 months. Season 15 (Set 16 - Lore & Legends) should end in April, 2026.

Previously, each season had a duration of 3 months, with a mid-set release. Starting from set 10, TFT will move to 4-months sets with no mid-set release.

The exact date is revealed only a few weeks before the set launch. However, as set 16 started in December, most probably set 17 will start in April, and set 18 in August.

Season duration

Set 9

Riot split Set 7 and 8 into two stages with a duration of 2.5-3 months each, and they are planning to follow the same strategy with Set 9.

We don’t have any additional confirmation yet, however, considering the Riot Patch Schedule, we can predict that Set 9.5 will end in November or early December.

Set 7

Our next set, Dragonlands, takes place in a diverse realm of powerful Dragons, some fierce, some friendly and a few who’re everything in between.

Dragonlands goes live with patch 12.11, with PBE beginning late afternoon (PT) May 24th.

Season 4 - Stage II

You’ll see Dawn of Heroes appear on PBE July 7th. The Mid-Set will head to live servers with patch 11.15 very, very, early in the morning on July 21st. And the Pass and Store Content will activate after my third cup of coffee that day at 11 AM (PDT)!

Season 2 - Stage II

Riot extended the duration of Galaxies to about six months, with a large mid-set update.

• The first ranked act ended with patch 10.12 on June 10th.

• The second ranked act will start as soon as the update hits the live servers. Our rank will be affected by a softer reset than usual.

• Teamfight Tactics: Fates will begin with patch 10.19, which is planned to land on September 16th according to the 2020 Riot patch schedule.

Season 2 - Stage I

The Rise of the Elements Ranked Season will conclude at the end of patch 1.05. Ranked will pick up immediately with the launch of 10.6 and TFT: Galaxies on March 18th.

Season 1

Ranked mode was disabled in 9.22, so Season 1 started in patch 9.23 on November 20th.

Beta season

Teamfight Tactics ranked Beta Season started on July 17th with patch 9.14. Riot plans to launch a new TFT season every few months, so there might be three to four seasons each year.

This is only a very early draft as they could reduce or increase the lifespan of each season based on the need of new content: there will be huge changes during each season as they will introduce new champions, items, and balance adjustments.

In the future, the TFT seasons might also link with the traditional Ranked splits.

We’re likely going to tie ranked seasons of TFT to ranked seasons of SR so that players have a consistent expectation throughout the year - ultimately we’ll do what makes the most sense for TFT though.
