The Device, previously known as Doomsday and codenamed Fritter, was the Live Event for Chapter 2: Season 2. In Update v12.30, this event's construction began and finished when Update v12.61 released. But, the event was soon delayed to Saturday, June 6th. It finally went live on Monday, 15th of June.

Buildup[]

On Update v12.30, mysterious hatches have appeared around The Agency and The Device is now visible in Midas' Room in The Hideout. On Update v12.40, the hatches began to glow purple. On May 20th 2020, clouds have formed and 3 days later bubbles started popping out from the hatches. On June 13, The countdown for The Device has appeared over The Agency and the next day the hatches open up, letting out bubbles into the water.

Event Summary[]

The event began with voices of Midas and his Henchmen heard around the Agency, just before the countdown hits zero. After it does, the hatches open up and four towers start rising. After that, The Agency explodes and The Device rises. The Towers powers up The Device, and it starts pushing back The Storm. After The Storm reaches outside The Island, The Looper gets Rifted into The Bridge, inside Agent Jones's Office as Jones walks through the hallway talking to Doctor Slone on his phone. He tells Janice to dial the Resonance Actuator to 7.2. and restart The Loop. They soon return to the island, as The Device shuts down. The Storm fastly shrinks in and The Device activates again. It holds the storm around The Agency, and overloads it to push it back as much as it can. The Storm disappears, and The Device descends into The Agency as towers get back into their hatches. A rainbow appears, and The Looper gets rifted back to The IO Complex. Jones enters his office and sees the looper, as he looks at them and asks if they can hear him. The Looper returns to the island for the last time in a Battle Bus as The Loop restarts, and a thick wall of water gets created around The Agency.

Trivia[]

As said in the Fortnite website, the Wall of Water was created by the Storm as revenge against Midas.
The Event had a modified version of Operation: Dropzone unlike other Events which had Team Rumble.
The Battle Bus when jumping into the newly flooded map was the Deadpool collab version.
