It is two terminal devices and when both the terminals are connected electric current flows through it. Electric cells produce electricity from chemical reactions inside the cell.Complete step by step answer:Electric cell is an electrochemical device which converts chemical energy into electrical energy. It has two terminals: one terminal is positive and another one is negative. When we connect these two terminals to an electrical device, electric current or the electrons can flow through it. The electric cell provides the energy needed for the electrons to move through the circuit. An electric cell generates electricity as a result of chemical reactions.Hence, the correct option is D, i.e., electric energy from chemical energy.Additional Information:Primary Cells:In case of primary cells, the chemical reaction of forming the solution is not reversible. For example, zinc can dissolve in ammonium chloride, but this process cannot be reversed to form the zinc electrode from the solution.Secondary Cells:In case of secondary cells, the chemical reaction of occurring in the electrolyte can be reversed. The electrodes can dissolve in the solution when the cell provides electric current to the external circuit. In this case the cell is discharging. When an external voltage is applied to the cell for making current flow in the reverse direction, the metal comes out of the solution and is deposited back on to the electrodes, recharging the cell. A secondary cell can be recharged so it is also called a storage cell.Note: Students need to know the working of an electric cell and they should keep in mind that it converts the chemical energy to electrical energy. So, students need not to be confused with options A, B and C as they are incorrect. Electric cell converts one form of energy to another form of energy. So, an electric cell works as an energy converter.Recently Updated PagesMaster Class 11 Accountancy: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 Science: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 Business Studies: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 English: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 Computer Science: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 9 General Knowledge: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 Accountancy: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 Science: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 Business Studies: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 English: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 11 Computer Science: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-rightMaster Class 9 General Knowledge: Engaging Questions & Answers for Successarrow-right
