The Flash: How Does Barry Allen Get Released From Prison?

Tuesday’s episode of The Flash featured a major plot development for Barry Allen. Spoilers are ahead from “True Colors.”
Tuesday’s episode of The Flash saw Barry Allen spend more time in prison, due to the wrongful murder charge for the death of Clifford DeVoe. This time, he was placed in the metahuman wing at Iron Heights, along with the others he locked away over the course of season 4.
In the midst of this, Team Flash discovered Ralph Dibny could shapeshift into the human form of anyone he sees. That started with the warden at Iron Heights, followed by the villain of season 4.
In an attempt to free Barry from prison, at his appeal hearing, Ralph arrived in the form of Clifford DeVoe, motorized wheelchair and all. He appeared alive and well, much to the surprise of the judge, who granted the Scarlet Speedster’s immediate release from prison.
Barry never seemed long for prison, even though he spent most of the past four episodes in it. The show was named The Flash for a reason — not for this famous DC Comics hero to sit in a cell and rarely use his powers. So, with him out, look for this to change when the show returns in late February.

This also ends the comic book-related storyline, “Trial of The Flash,” that this show used since the midseason finale. How will it be followed up on? Will we ever see Barry return to jail? Let’s find out when The Flash returns later this month.
