PlayStation 5 production issues are pretty prevalent in the gaming industry and every player knows what the company is going through as a major part of them is suffering due to that. Eager players have not been able to get their hands on the next-gen PlayStation 5 as the production issues have caused supply constraints.

The PlayStation 5 is only up for sale in limited pieces and even those get sold out in a matter of seconds. The production issues were primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic that took place during the release of the console system. According to the latest report Sony expects these production issues will take around two more years to end.

This report comes from the PlayStation Games and Network presentation that has been posted by Zuby_Tech on Twitter. In the image that he posted, it states the PS5 supply issues are a top priority with an image of a graph that depicts cumulative sale of the PS4 and PS5 in the first year of the PS5 all the way to the upcoming fourth year from the release of the next-gen console.

The graph states the PlayStation 5 outsold the PlayStation 4 in the first year of release. In the second year of the console the PlayStation 5 undersold the PlayStation 4 by a decent margin due to supply constraints. In year 3 the company expects to close the gap of sales between the two. Finally, in the fourth year the company expects the PlayStation 5 to overtake the PlayStation 4 in terms of cumulative sales.

They have also stated the short term risks for their plans; firstly COVID-19 as that could impact parts and inventory production and delivery. Second one is impact of Russia on logistics and potential part inventory. The company has also outlined the mitigation measures that are already in progress.

These measures include the company sourcing multiple suppliers for better agility in unstable market conditions. They also have ongoing negotiations for logistics of the console to maintain optimal delivery routes. Check out the graph and their plans in the tweet embedded below:
