Attention parents! 🚗♻️ Target’s popular Car Seat Trade-In Event is back this September 2025! For two weeks only, you can recycle your old or expired car seats and score 20% off new baby gear, including strollers, car seats, and more.

This limited-time event happens twice a year, so mark your calendars and get ready to save big. Here’s everything you need to know.

When Is the 2025 Target Car Seat Trade-In?

The fall 2025 Target Car Seat Trade-In Event runs from Sunday, September 21st, through Saturday, October 4th.

You’ll have two weeks to bring in an old car seat and receive a 20% off Target Circle Bonus, which can be used toward a new car seat, stroller, or select baby home gear.

The spring car seat trade-in event is expected to return in April 2026.

How the Target Car Seat Trade-In Works:

• Drop off any car seat or booster—expired, damaged, or old— at a participating Target store between Sunday, September 21st, and Saturday, October 4th.
• Drop it into the designated box located near the Guest Services area.
• Use your phone to scan the QR code on the box and add the 20% bonus to your Wallet in the Target App.
• Use your bonus on a new car seat, stroller, travel system, stroller wagon, or select baby home gear (playards, swings, high chairs, rockers, and bouncers).

👉 Note: Each Target Circle account will receive one 20% off bonus. You can redeem it twice before October 18, 2025.

Smart Tips to Maximize Savings:

• Stack savings: Combine the 20% off bonus with most other Target promos and sales on baby gear.
• Use a Circle Card: Save an extra 5% on top of your discount, plus enjoy free shipping.
• No car seat to trade in? Check local Buy Nothing groups or Facebook Marketplace for a free seat to trade in.
• Shop early: Popular car seats and strollers (think Graco, Chicco, Baby Jogger, Evenflo) sell out early during the event.

Why Participate?

This event isn’t just about saving money—it’s about making a difference. Target partners with recycling companies to turn old car seat materials into new products like plastic buckets, construction supplies, and even select Brightroom storage items sold at Target.

4. Do you have any sense what the limit to “select baby gear” is? I have an 18 m/o, and insofar as they’re accepting trades, I’d think they’d offer deals on your now-older baby. Would love to buy her a climber, pretend play item, or maybe even just winter boots depending on what they’ll allow to be covered.

6. I have twins and would love to trade in two infant car seats to upgrade for two convertible car seats. Do you know if they will let me get two separate coupons or use one coupon for two seats?

   1. You can only get one coupon per Target Circle account, but that coupon can be redeemed twice! So you’ll be able to get two car seats. 🙂

7. If I have two bases and a car seat will I get 3 20% off coupons or just the one ?

   1. You can only get one coupon (that can be redeemed twice) per Target Circle account. Maybe you can use a family member’s Circle account for additional coupons.

8. Can I drop off a car seat for donation prior to the trade in event? I don’t need another but would like to pass this one on if someone can use it. My husband doesn’t want it taking up space so I’m trying to expedite the process at this time. Thanks so much for your help!

   1. Good question! I don’t have the answer to it, but maybe try calling your local store. If not, you can always post on Facebook marketplace or if you have a neighborhood Buy Nothing group.

9. Does the coupon work on all baby gear, say for example, a stokke trip trapp high chair?

   1. I don’t know of any brand exclusions, but keep me posted. I know the discount worked on the Doona this time, which never goes on sale!
