No. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) states that any certified mechanical workshop or mobile mechanic can service or repair your car without voiding your New Car Manufacturers Warranty. Find out more

Will the service provider stamp my logbook?

Yes. For logbook services, the service provider will sign and stamp your logbook to meet manufacturer requirements. If the service provider has not stamped your logbook, please contact them directly to arrange a time for them to stamp your logbook.

Can I reschedule the date of my booking?

What happens if I cancel or don’t show up to my booking?

If you booked through AutoGuru and your booking has been confirmed, you can reschedule to a new date or time. Simply click the 'manage my booking' link on your booking confirmation email. If you need help email [email protected]. If you cancel or don't show up and don't reschedule (and you have prepaid in advance), a $20 cancellation fee will apply.

How long will my service or repair take?

If you’ve booked with a workshop, the service provider will usually require your vehicle for the entire day due to scheduling. If you’ve booked with a mobile provider, you will only be without your vehicle for the time it takes to complete the job. Find out more

What if I requested a loan car but it’s not available on the day?

Most service providers also offer either a drop off or pick up service, where they can drop you off at or pick you up from a location within a 5km radius of their business, or a $10 Uber ride voucher. Find out more

How long will it take for a quote to be sent to me?

For servicing, inspections and select repairs, we can provide instant quotes. However, some tasks require a quote request to be sent to service providers. You will usually receive at least one quote within 24 hours.

How many quotes can I expect to receive?

How is the timing chain replaced?

The engine accessories are removed, the engine oil is drained, and the front engine cover is removed.

The tension on the timing chain tensioner is released and the camshaft and crankshaft gears are removed along with the timing chain, the technician will also use specialist tools to ensure the engine timing is still aligned while the timing chain is removed.

The new timing chain is installed on the gears, and the gears and chain are re-installed in the same position.

The front cover is re-installed, the accessories are mounted, and the engine oil is topped up. Lastly, the technician runs the engine and road tests to confirm the repair is successful.

When should a timing chain be replaced?

The timing chain may last the lifetime of the vehicle. So unless the vehicle manufacturer has a specific replacement interval or you notice any of the symptoms of failure you may not need to get it replaced. However, if you do notice any symptoms of failure it is important to get the timing chain inspected as soon as possible as costly engine damage can occur.
