Tokyo Revengers is an anime adapted from the popular manga of the same name. The story centers around Takemichi as he revisits the past to prevent the Tokyo Manji Gang — or Toman for short — from becoming evil. Every time Takemichi visits the past, his actions create an alternate timeline in the present.

At first, Takemichi's mission is to save his childhood girlfriend Hinata. However, Takemichi soon realizes that saving one individual is a lot harder than he anticipated. There are many shocking moments throughout the series as Takemichi tries to unravel the tangled web of people and events that sets Toman down a dark path of destruction.

10 When Takemichi Is Pushed In Front Of A Train

At 26 years old, Takemichi is leading a pretty unremarkable life. He's working a dead-end job with no other prospects and seems to be a bit of a slob. While watching the news one day, he learns his middle school girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, has died at the hands of the Tokyo Manji Gang.

The news shakes Takemichi and he thinks about her while going about his usual day. While waiting for the train, Takemichi is suddenly pushed onto the tracks. But instead of dying, he's transported 12 years into the past.

9 When Akkun Asks Takemichi To Save Everyone

Naoto, Hinata's brother, and Takemichi work together to prevent the Tokyo Manji Gang from turning evil in hopes that they can save Hinata. In order to achieve this, Takemichi needs to prevent Mikey from ever meeting Kisaki because Kisaki's influence is what sets Mikey down a bad path.

After a few trips to the past, Takemichi does not believe the Mikey he met would lead a gang that would kill. Takemichi and Naoto visit Akkun, Takemichi's childhood friend, to learn more about Kisaki and Mikey. During the visit, Akkun reveals he pushed Takemichi in front of the train on Kisaki's orders. Akkun suspects Takemichi can time travel and asks him to save everyone before he jumps from a building.

8 When Hinata Slaps Mikey Across The Face

Takemichi catches Mikey's attention when the Toman leader shows up to break up Kiyomasa's fighting ring. Mikey asks for Takemichi's name and remarks that from now on the two are friends. The next day Mikey shows up at Takemichi's school.

Hinata sees Takemichi talking to Mikey and Draken and mistakes them for bullies. She walks up to Mikey and slaps him across the face, to everyone's surprise. She chastises Mikey and tells him if he and Draken are the reason Takemichi is beaten up, she will protect Takemichi.

7 When Draken Is Stabbed And The Ambulance Takes Forever

In the present, Takemichi learns that Mikey changed after Draken died because he no longer had someone to keep him in check. Naoto tells Takemichi that Draken died during the festival on August 3rd, and Takemichi's new goal is to keep Draken alive.

Unfortunately, Takemichi is unable to prevent Draken from getting stabbed by Kiyomasa. Draken is severely injured when Takemichi finds him, so Takemichi shifts his focus to keeping Draken alive until the ambulance arrives. While waiting for the ambulance, Kiyomasa and his gang show up to finish the job.

6 When Hinata Is Killed Again In The New Timeline

After working so hard in the past to not only alter events but also change himself for the better, Takemichi arrives in a present where everything seems to have worked out. Akkun has achieved his dream of becoming a hairstylist and Hinata is alive.

Takemichi meets up with Hinata and the two go for a drive to catch up. However, the evening takes a turn when a vehicle crashes into the car where Hinata is waiting for Takemichi. Not only does Takemichi have to watch Hinata die, but also his friend Akkun, who is the one behind the wheel of the other vehicle.

5 When Baji Leaves Toman To Join Valhalla With Kazutora

After Kazutora is released from prison, Baji announces his intention to leave Toman and join Valhalla. He publicly declares that he now considers Toman the enemy. To prove his loyalty to Valhalla, Baji beats up his closest friend, Chifuyu.

His departure is sudden and shocking, especially to Takemichi. When Baji shows up alongside Valhalla at the Bloody Halloween battle, it seems that he has firmly cemented his place in Valhalla and is no longer a friend to Toman.

4 When Mikey Promotes Kisaki To Third Division Captain

With Pah gone, Toman has to appoint a new Third Division Captain. As the members gather, the new Third Division Captain is asked to come forward and none other than Kisaki emerges from the crowd.

Takemichi is so overcome that he steps forward and punches Kisaki in the face. This angers the other members, as Takemichi is not a part of Toman and is not only interrupting the ceremony but also disrespecting Mikey's decision.

3 When Kazutora Accidentally Kills Mikey's Brother

Kazutora is one of the founding members of Toman. He's close to all the members, especially Baji. For Mikey's birthday one year, Kazutora comes up with a plan to steal a motorcycle to give to Mikey and enlists the help of Baji.

During the heist, the motorcycle shop owner wakes up. Kazutora comes from behind and hits the person over the head, knocking him to the ground and killing him. As it turns out, the motorcycle shop owner is none other than Mikey's older brother, Shinichiro.

2 When Baji Stabs Himself To Save Toman

During the Bloody Halloween battle, Baji reveals his true intentions for joining Valhalla. Baji perceives Kisaki as a threat and joins Valhalla to find out more about him and his plans. He attacks Kisaki during the battle and plans to take him down.

However, Kazutora attacks Baji from behind and stabs him. As if predicting what effect the event would have on Toman, Baji fatally stabs himself. In doing so, Baji relieves Kazutora from being the one to kill him and also eliminates Mikey's reason for wanting to kill Kazutora.

1 When Chifuyu Is Killed In Front Of Takemichi

In the present, Takemichi is very successful and the top executive of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He is escorted off to a meeting where he's surrounded by familiar faces, including his old friends — and some new ones. Kisaki shows up to the meeting and asks to speak to Takemichi and Chifuyu.

Over a drink, Kisaki admits he orchestrated Bloody Halloween and ordered Kazutora to kill Baji. Shortly after, both Takemichi and Chifuyu lose consciousness and when they wake up they're restrained. Under Kisaki's armed interrogation, Chifuyu admits to being a traitor to Toman and tells Takemichi he was trying to clean it up because they had lost their way. Kisaki then shoots Chifuyu and kills him.
