Tornadoes, Wind Impacted KY During Severe Storms Wednesday

KENTUCKY — Severe weather tore through Kentucky on Wednesday night, bringing tornadoes, heavy rain and wind with it.

More than 30 counties in Kentucky had tornado warnings during Wednesday's storms.

There was even a confirmed tornado located in Jeffersontown, Ky.

According to the National Weather Service, the Jeffersontown tornado was "radar confirmed" and "moving northeast at 55 miles per hour."

In Shelby County, there was a report of a tornado on I-64 near Simpsonville, Ky.

The National Weather Service will go out and survey damage Thursday morning.

In terms of power outages, as of 11:17 p.m. on Wednesday night, an estimated 32,942 LG&E customers were without power in Kentucky. An estimated 19,387 of those customers were in the Louisville area.

West Kentucky Rural Electric customers were also without power. As of 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, there were 212 customers affected.

There were also severe thunderstorm warnings issued in the Lexington area.

At this time, there is no information about storm-related injuries.
