The Level 1 Trauma Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) is proud to offer the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) for providers and instructors. The Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) is a continuing education class intended for registered professional nurses.

Trauma Nursing Core Course

The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) first implemented the TNCC for national and international dissemination as a means of identifying a standardized body of trauma nursing knowledge.

The TNCC two-day provider course is a 16-hour course designed to provide the learner with cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills.

The TNCC instructor course is an eight-hour course designed to prepare nurses to become TNCC instructors. Nurses must have successfully completed the provider course prior to attending the instructor course.

Instructor candidates must have course director approval to attend the program. The instructor course emphasizes appropriate teaching strategies and correct evaluation methods.

Additional Information

The Emergency Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission of Accreditation. TNCC Verification — a certificate valid for four years — will be issued by the Emergency Nurses Association to individuals successfully completing the minimum requirements.

ADA statement: In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, please advise the Course Director if you have any disability that requires special materials and/or services so that appropriate personnel can be advised.
