Member Apr 19, 2018 9,323 There's probably an inherently simple answer, but why do Virtual Console games dim the 3DS screen's brightness down so much? Something to do with the way they're being emulated? I generally play comfortably at a brightness level of 3 but I always need to remember to jack it up to max when playing anything VC-based to make it LOOK like it's on level 3. Do you think this over-compensation saps the 3DS's battery as if it's actually on max, given that it still doesn't look overly bright? neonglow

Can't speak for Game Gear games, but GBA, NES, and SNES VC titles all look markedly dimmer on the 3DS. GingerbreadMan

I have never seen this myself, the games look normal to me. Maybe just slightly dark for NES but nothing Wii U level. But then again I basically always have the brightness on max setting, it really doesn't affect the battery that much. Wireless connections are the big power drain.
