AF was late by a week last month when I got several positive tests. Something felt weird, so I kept testing. Tests got faint, then negative by the second week. Had a blood test( Negative). So I figured "chemical pregnancy". Started bleeding a few days later, but it was mostly brown, light and only lasted two days. Now this month I'm still having strong pregnancy symptoms. I didnt want to waste money with expensive tests, so I've been taking cheapie 88cent tests. They all come up with a line( sometimes faint, sometimes dark) within the time frame. But they're THIN?? Also to add, they only get dark when I have diluted urine. I took a test two nights ago( faint, but positive w/ think line). Took one this morning( concentrated) and it was stark negative. I don't want to waste money going to the OB near me( huge copay). But I also never get evaps like this. Advice Please!!??

  • bBoyMom2534 Original PosterPosted 05-18-20This was a clear blue digital from last month. I retested w/ the regular dye just to make sure it wasn't faulty. But I don't entirely trust blue dyes either.

  • aAristocatGirl Posted 05-18-20Ummm...if they're positive, and you didn't have a period, then you should go to the doctors. The test lines aren't thin either. :)See all replies (1)
  • dDhatch05 Posted 05-18-20Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but eventually pregnancy tests will start to look negative because you have too much HCG the further you get into pregnancy. When you dilute your urine, it brings the HCG level down so the test isn’t over saturated. That would be my guess if you’re getting negatives with concentrated urine and positives when you dilute it. I agree with the previous poster though. If you think you didn’t have a period and you’re getting positive tests, then you should probably check in with your OB. It is also usually only demonstrated when HCG levels are in the 100,000++ range, but even then it depends on the threshold of the diagnostic tool being used.OP you really have two options here - keep testing and only rely on fresh tests for your results (maybe switching brands will help) or go see your doctor. Good luck either way!!See all replies (1)

But it was negative. I had the blood test about two weeks after first missed AF. Do you think that it was just too early?

I've actually read about the Hook Effect and have seriously been considering it as a possibility( especially since twins run in my family). But I've heard it is relatively uncommon. Maybe my blood test was taken too early?I have no earthly idea at this point. I think I'm going to buy some bulk cheapie strips and test out the Hook Theory. I can also have another blood draw( I don't have to make an appointment with my GP for them, so it's currently the cheapest option).Guess I'm just terrified of getting my hopes up and another blood test coming back negative.I'll update with what I find out!!See all replies (1)

Even if you were pregnant with 6 babies you’d likely still be able to pull a positive on a test right now since you’d still be fairly early if your previous blood test a few weeks ago was negative. A repeat blood draw sounds like it would be the most conclusive for you!

  • bBoyMom2534 Original PosterPosted 06-17-20*Update*I took another blood test on the 20th of May and it was negative. Still had faint positive urine tests.Took another blood test on the 5th and it was positive! I'm 6.5 along with twins!I'm now thinking the weird brown discharge I had in the beginning of May was implantation. I have no idea what happened here. Maybe it took a while for the bubs to implant, or I ovulated out of cycle??I do know with my last son I ovulated out of cycle and SO and I hadn't had sex for 16 days beforehand. So maybe we're freaks of nature, or maybe it's a miracle 😅 See all replies (1)

  • member avatarBeamstar Posted 06-17-20Congratulations! Twins!!!If you're 6.5 weeks pregnant today then you conceived the middle of may. So you wouldn't have gotten a positive test until June. See all replies (1)
