WandaVision: Who Is White Vision And How Many Episodes Are There?

Will White Vision’s storyline follow the Marvel comics? (Picture: Marvel Comics/Marvel Studios)

Warning: spoilers ahead for episode eight of WandaVision.

In a post-credits scene for episode eight of Marvel TV series WandaVision on Disney Plus, the truth of what happens to Vision’s (Paul Bettany) body after his death is finally revealed, introducing a storyline from the comics and confirming one of the many theories surrounding the mind-boggling show.

After Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) dubs Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) Scarlet Witch and tells her that she used Chaos Magic to create an entirely new version of Vision in her fake reality, the post-credits scene shows acting S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) looking at Vision – although it’s not the Vision we’ve grown to know since Avengers: Age of Ultron.

While Vision is known for his red, green and gold appearance, this Vision is completely white, having been pieced back together by S.W.O.R.D. agents after he was killed by Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Infinity War and revived using some of Wanda’s power from a drone she threw out of Westview.

So who is White Vision and could he appear in season two of WandaVision?

Who is White Vision?

In the Marvel comics, Vision is created by Ultron, just as he is in the 2015 film Age of Ultron.

However, it is Hank Pym who is Ultron’s creator in the comics, rather than Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) as depicted in the film.

In the Vision Quest comic book storyline of 1989, Vision’s body is dismantled, resulting in Pym having to put him back together.

While he is able to reassemble Vision, Pym is unable to recover his personality, and he becomes White Vision, void of colour and humanity.

Not only does this indicate that Wanda may have to face an unrecognisable version of her partner in the season finale of WandaVision, but seeing White Vision will also likely remind her of how he looked when Thanos killed him, the colour drained from his body when the Mind Stone was torn out of his head.

Will White Vision appear in season 2 of WandaVision?

It hasn’t yet been confirmed whether there will be a second season of WandaVision.

However, we do know that Wanda is set to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is due to be released in 2022 and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character.

During a recent interview, Marvel boss Kevin Feige discussed the prospect of subsequent seasons of WandaVision, expressing his hope that there could be a ‘part two and part three’.

While speaking at the Television Critics’ Association press tour, Kevin said: ‘I’ve been at Marvel too long to say a definite yes or a definite no to anything.’

The Marvel Studios president added: ‘Lizzy Olsen will go from WandaVision to the Doctor Strange film. We hope there’s a part two and a part three but we’re focusing on part one.’

If there is a second season of WandaVision, it would definitely be intriguing if White Vision were to play a role.

Plus, there are surely many Marvel fans who aren’t ready to say goodbye to Paul in the MCU just quite yet.

There are nine episodes of WandaVision in total.

That means that the episode due to be released on Friday March 5 will be its last… until we (hopefully) receive word of further instalments.
