The first is Platinum points, giving users who can amass them a whole slew of perks and features. And the second is called Gold points, with its own host of benefits. Nintendo: what are Platinum and Gold points?
Initially, Nintendo’s loyalty program was known as Club Nintendo. But following its discontinuation in 2015, the video game company launched My Nintendo as its successor. Users can earn rewards by either purchasing games or using software, with different actions resulting in different points garnered.

To earn Platinum points, players have to complete specific “missions.” For instance, linking your Nintendo network ID to your Nintendo account nets you 100 platinum points. Additionally, players can win rewards for linking their social media accounts like Twitter, Facebook, or Google to their Nintendo account. Players can also gather these as a prize for certain promotions or tournaments.

Gold points are much more straightforward. To earn Gold points, one simply needs to purchase eligible games for the Nintendo Switch, the 3DS, or the Wii U, and reward points equivalent to 5% of their total purchase be automatically credited to them.
This applies to purchases through the official website, the eShop, and from redeeming a retailer-issued download code. Additionally, this applies to any DLC’s the player purchases through the aforementioned mediums.

Players also get gold points for registering any game cards for the Switch. Although, only 1% of the price of the item on the Nintendo e-shop gets credited as gold points in that scenario.
Players must claim these points within one year in all countries except Europe and South Africa, where the time limit is two years.
One can use these as payment for eligible digital Nintendo Switch games, DLC purchases, and the Switch Online membership. This applies to both the Switch e-shop and the Nintendo Website.

Nintendo also distributes point codes that are redeemable for My Nintendo points.
