What does it mean when I continue to get a "Reason: No Answer" error when trying to send a fax? print icon May 07, 2020 views icon 7626

This error means that the receivers' fax machine is not picking up and providing a fax tone when FaxBetter calls the fax number that you provided. Each time you attempt to send a fax with FaxBetter, FaxBetter makes multiple attempts over approximately 30 minutes to call the receivers' fax number. Only after multiple unsuccessful attempts does FaxBetter send you the "Reason: No Answer" error message and discontinue attempting to send your fax.

When you receive a "Reason: No Answer", FaxBetter recommends that you:

  1. Double-check that the fax number you are attempting to send to is the correct fax number.
  2. Call that fax number from a voice line. If you do not hear a fax tone, there is a problem with the receivers' fax number.
  3. Wait 24 hours and attempt to resend the fax.
  4. Contact the receiver's voice number and have them confirm that their fax is operational and has received faxes in the last 24 hours.
