What happens to your belly fat that was there before you got pregnant? As the baby grows, does the fat move over like other organs? Or does it stay in front, inbetween baby and skin? Does it make you look even more pregnant? Anyone have experience with this or know?

in case you havent guessed, I had some belly fat to begin with. I feel like im starting to get a "bump" behind it but all it does is make it look like im 4 months preggo... which is kinda embarrasing when your only 2 months. :P

I don't know the answer to this but I feel the same way, especially in the evenings.  I don't want to call it a bump because I think it's just a combo of my bloat and pooch that I'm seeing.  LOL

This is my 4th and my belly fat just kinda stretched evenly... at first when I first pop out I look slightly bigger but then I always just gain in the belly. Its hard to answere cause every woman is different!

I think it took me until about 16 weeks before my belly fat was baby bump the first time. I don't know where the mushy fat went- my ass?- but the bump was hard like the fat wasn't floating on top of it :) LOL TMI?

  • aads78 Posted 01-27-11It sticks out at first and makes you feel extra fat, but then all of a sudden it all stretches out and your belly gets hard and round... I guess it depends on how much extra chub there is before it rounds out.

I think it just stays in front and makes you look further along... I had a family member who was bigger and you just couldn't ever tell she was preggo but she was a lot bigger, like very dangerous health wise, bigger. I have a pooch this time around left over from DS and I wish I had gotten rid of it so I could have a cute baby bump Frown

i agree with PP. most of my belly flab is loose skin from my 2 PP. but there is a little fat in there too. (yuccck) it just stretches out. my belly gets just as stiff and round as any other belly i've seen. and i have a friend that started substantially overweight and she still has a round baby belly too.. i'm not sure how it "distributed" with her. but there is no doubt. looking at her, she is DEF pregnant. lol

I am having the same problem. =(

I feel the same way. I'm only 6 1/2 weeks but I feel like my little bit of prepregnancy pooch makes me look farther along than I am. It's starting to get firmer though so hopefully it'll just smooth out haha. I've actually lost a little weight since I found out I was pregnant without trying so we shall see.

Sadly my worst feature is my stomach.. I have ALOT of belly fat.. Im only about 20 pounds overweight but its gotta all be in my stomach... I didnt look pregnant until about 28 weeks.. then all of a sudden I had a nice solid pregnant belly... Im  not sure where the fat went... I guess spread out all over...

BUT... I had a little pooch... like from my belly button to my vagina... that was disgusting when I was pregnant.. it just got pushed down.... so traumatizing... I wish I had of gotten rid of that...
