What pound test?
« on: Oct 13, 2015, 08:51 PM » Just working things out for the ice this year. My question to you guys n gals is what pound test are you using for panfish, perch, walleyed? I would really like to target some walleyed this year, but not sure on what pound test to go to. Panfish I usually run 4 pound. Logged

Light action all the way up to a medium-heavy depending on what lure size you would be using.Crappie and perch I would go 1-4lb test and an ultra light all the way up to a medium light rod, again depending on the wieght of the lure you are using. Lighter rods=lighter line Heavier rods=heavier line Logged

Baitbucket, 8# works just fine around here, even in the clear lakes because so few people target bait fish, I mean panfish in this part of the country... In places were catching a big sunfish is a big deal, the fish have become line shy and they need to drop down to finer lines... Logged

« Reply #18 on: Oct 18, 2015, 09:45 AM » I go with 2 pound, but the fish I catch are perch, small walleye, and trout rarely over 5 pounds. I lose some trout, but tend to do better with the lighter line. Logged

« Reply #21 on: Oct 18, 2015, 03:49 PM » A 4# line is not a 4# line anymore. Some 4# lines breaks in the 8# range. Some 4# lines are as thin as a 3# equivalent test line while others may be as thin/thick as 6# test lines. Logged For more information read my MN nice journal
