That’s where the new biopic, King Richard, comes in to tell Williams’ story.

Produced by the real Venus and Serena Williams, with their family’s blessing, King Richard is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green with a script written by Zach Baylin. Will Smith as stars Richard Williams, who was struggling to make ends meet in the early ’90s, raising five daughters and working night shifts as a security guard in Compton, California. But Richard has a plan: Turn his daughters, Venus and Serena, into tennis superstars.
