They upped the torque and hp with larger turbo and no wastegate along with other items. You can go here and download the 6.7 coffee table books and see the differences. https://www.forddoctorsdts.com/coffeetablebooks.html Reply 0 0 Just Strokin View Public Profile Find all posts by Just Strokin Old Feb 27, 2019 | 09:17 AM Share Share Options #5 Chuck-B's Avatar Chuck-B 6.7 Weight Loss Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 1,141 Likes: 5 From: Woodbury CT Was the 6.7 always manufactured by Ford? I thought I read somewhere that the 2010 - 2012 they were Navistar's, in 2012 Ford redesigned and built their own 6.7. But I just read something else that said the 6.7 was always a Ford designed engine. In 2010 it was introduced with 390 HP and 735 pounds of torque, shortly after it was introduced it was changed to 400 HP with 800 pounds of torque. As DirtHawg mentions in 2015 it was upped to 440 HP with 860 pounds of torque primarily because if a new turbo. In 2017 torque went to 925, HP stayed at 440, in '18 HP went to 450 and torque went to 935. The thing is a beast that's for sure. As I understand it Ford designed this one internally after all the issues with the navistar motors. The last Navstar was the 6.4L that went away with the 2010 model year trucks. Ford introduced the new engine with the 2011 model Superduties that began shipping in April 2010. The original engine shipped with a 390 HP rating. GM released a 395 hp version of the Duramax to counter the new engine from Ford. ( previous Ford 6.4L engine had been 350hp) and in August 2010 Ford released a flash that updated the engine to 400 HP. More of bragging or advertizing rights than anything. In 2015 the Gen 2 engine came out with 440 hp and in 2017 it was bumped to 450 hp.
