11 Jun, 2016 @ 12:58am Where are these damned armor pieces !? I'm not talking about any rare armor (I already know where to get those) but just normal light armor pieces. I'm lvl 24 and the best I can find in shops are mithril (if I'm lucky). Bandits do give me armor of my level, but there's one piece I can't find. The helmet.I have been stuck with a stupid chainmail helmet since lvl 12 and I can't find anything better. I try every shop I find and there's nothing better and it's just pissing me off. Is it a well known bug ?PS : I don't have this problem with heavy armor < > Showing 1-9 of 9 comments

11 Jun, 2016 @ 1:52am Have you tried looking near caves with bandits in them? They usually wear light armor. #1

11 Jun, 2016 @ 2:10am It's not a bug - it's, I'd assume, simply down to unlucky RNG that isn't spawning said helmet in either available loot in Chests, etc., nor on enemies. Eventually, it will appear, and however long it takes there should be an enemy that spawns with the piece of armour that you're looking for.Ways of increasing your odds of finding it can be manipulating quests and purposefully doing them at a later level to acquire a full set of high-level armour. For instance, during the Bravil quest: "Lost in the Hunt", where you have to find Aleron Loche at Fort Grief, the Hunters can spawn with full, completed sets of armour and weapons; I completed that quest at Level 20 and found two complete sets of Daedric Armour and one complete set of Glass Armour, complete with same-style weapons. Furthermore, quests that involve levelled enemies that can carry armour can also be superb, however, bear in mind that some might wear Heavy Armour over Light Armour, (such as Agamir's friend in the quest involving Thoronir in the Imperial City)...Finding Bandit camps and caves, seeking out Highwaymen to ambush you and engage a fight, looting Chests and other storage mediums in caves and in Oblivion, and really looking hard can increase your chances of finding the piece. Oblivion, caves, and Ayelid Ruins are especially excellent places to look, and if you keep searching, eventually... ...eventually... ...it will finally appear...And if you really can't find it, then rest assured in the knowledge that there's always Console Commands...

11 Jun, 2016 @ 2:29am There's also the unique helmet Fin Gleam, which is glass and available at any level. It's On the west side of the island next to Anvil. Underwater. Quite a way underwater. Look for a skeleton nestled in some rocks. It has water breathing and, unfortunately, night eye on. #3

11 Jun, 2016 @ 4:14am Bandits never wear helmets so that's not possible. I might as well just use the console. The thing that troubles me is mainly the shops. I've been at least 20 times to the best defense, and their stock of light armor never got better than chainmail, not even a single mithril item popped up. How unlucky do I have to be... #4

12 Jun, 2016 @ 8:54pm Keep leveling up - eventually, shops WILL start carrying better light armor.Remember to check all armor shops, not just The Best Defense. #6

17 Jun, 2016 @ 8:31am Don't the shops take a week (game time) to respawn? #9 < > Showing 1-9 of 9 comments Per page: 1530 50 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009) > General Discussions > Topic Details Date Posted: 11 Jun, 2016 @ 12:58amPosts: 9

How unlucky do I have to be...Bandit leaders wear helmets, and generally, they also carry some enchanted stuff that's quite a lot better than what usual Bandits carry. If you have the Orrery Pulg-In, Bandit carriers also wear helmets, and Black Bow Bandit leaders can also wear helmets. Looking around and adventuring would be a good way of legitimately acquiring the helmet that you want, and I agree that shops are largely useless. It's apparent that they sell stuff a few levels down from what you have, and thus I only really use shops for repairs and recharge, potions, some ingredients and spells, (they're useful for helping low-level characters getting started, but they don't really sell much high-level stuff).Using the console is quick and easy. All you have to do is typle in "player.additem <Item Code> <Quantity>. Of course, it can be regarded as cheating, though for acquiring something as trivial as a helmet that relies on the RNG to acquire any way, if you're really stuggling to find it then I see no reason for you not to use the console to acquire the helmet, other than a certain illegitimacy which doesn't really matter. If you're not afraid of murdering someone to get a helmet, looking in remote towns and Inns and killing the citizens wearing levelled armour there can also work. A quick venture around the Imperial City's surrounding road, as well as being a beautiful route, can lead to finding plenty of settlements where people where full sets of levelled Light Armour. If you aren't afraid of/are willing to murder someone to get the helmet, then this could also be a good way to quickly getting the helmet that you want. #5
